Thats cool just keep going with the telephone calls If its hard set yourself a goal of say 3 a day. Manageable etc..not that your OH shouldn't be doing this hard stuff too!!

We're all here for you! Agree this cloak of anonymity takes some getting used to! Feel like one day I will be rumbled!

BTW if it helps..am 40 this year and despite well paid jobs this will be my first year without CCs, personal loans, loans to bank of Mum and Dad etc. OK we have an outstanding car loan of £5002 - we are a 1 car family but apart from the mortgage thats now it. Am now determined to keep it that way. Its hard but possible! A big part of my turnaround (and keeping on the right track) was getting OH involved in scrutinising what we spend. Working together on it has been a big change BUT as I have said on other posts it was a long time arriving..his LBM happened about 4 months ago and we have been together for aeons!!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    Hey RMC

Welcome to diaryland. It helps keeps me sane :D

I don't do pots 'cos I know I'd be likely to break into them! But I do have coppers, silver and £1 piggy banks (only one of which is an actually piggy!) to deposit my change into 'cos I konw I'm less likely to break inyto a note in my purse. But if there's change in there, then it's a goner! Even with the spending dairy! Not got any specific reason for these yet, but likely to throw them at the highest interest debt - unless my friend's keep announcing wedding and babies and the such ;)

I have told quite a few of my friends and (to a lesser extent, i.e. missing out a debt or three) my parents... responses variable! Mostly because many of them are spending, spending, spending. And while they may be living within their means, they don't seem to like me being accountable my spending, saying I'm being boring and I've got to live my life... though they have stopped quizzing me when I turn up the pub with the car as an excuse not to spend money on alcohol (which is an excellent way to lose weight btw). Some of them do however realise I need to do this and that my stubborness means I will get there! And they have been invaluable! So if you've any-one you can confide and you trust they'll understand your take on it, I say go for it! It's great having my DFW diary, but you can't beat sitting with a cuppa and having a good old moan with a mate :)

    Hi all

Just snaffled 4x£2 coins out of my purse and into my savings pot. If they had stayed in my purse there is a risk they would get spent. Setting yourself a sealed pot challenge is a good idea RMC even if its literally pennies.

Also got OH to list 2 items on eBay this morning. Here's hoping for some bids now I have set myself a goal for next 5 weeks. Off to scour for some more items!!

Thanks for the posts - it really does help me on my journey back to sanity!

Bad News - another bounced DDM - which means another £25 to A&L, no cheque from shop which said it would be sent yesterday - its for £3000 so its so needed, lot of suppliers asking/demanding payment.

Good news - paid Thurs, and a whole £20 more due to back pay - taxman took £69!

Nothing selling on ebay yet, hate the wait for bids :(

    Hi RMC,
With regards to cheques can you or OH not do a bit of debt collecting, I know after working in accounts for years people hang onto the money until you really put the pressure on maybe turning up on the doorstep and waiting for the money might get them to cough up, you could even ask for part cash up front might keep some of the charges at bay.
Look on the bright side an extra £20 every little helps what are you going to spend it on or pay off.
Back soon off to feed my face and come up with some more ideas for you

Herewego - he does call to the shops and reminds them when he leaves deliveries, those which he can but many have head offices else where. But tomorrow he is going to call one of the baddies and tell them he will collect chq on Friday. However in reality all that money needs to go to suppliers - thats another problem with robbing Peter to pay Paul - mixing business and personal debts. We need to stop that and soon.

However, on the brighter side he does all collect about £500 cash weekly - so when my budget kicks in and we are not playing the panic game - that money should pay wages and also be used for our bills. This week we must pay £200 to business loan from my mum and wages - so thats it gone. However we are reducing hours of one guy so that will save £50 next week.

WOW just looked at your sig - you have done so well in getting that £509.52 down!

Ok belly is full and I've had a think, have you ever used 7 day letters to chase debt. I once worked for a company and someone sent 7 day letters to everyone on the system by accident. The cash flooded in but then again so did the phonecalls but for the price of a few stamps it may generate a bit of cash and keep your suppliers of your back. You can dowload 7 day letter templates, and if you really upset anyone just tell them you have a temp working for you :T as you can see i'm trained to blag my way out of anything.
Can you sell any of your stock online through ebay ? Do you have much stock ?

As for my little starting debt I was determind to get rid of my first one and it's been my challenge just transferred £185 from paypal so hopefully friday i can say goodbye VERY

Our business is supplying local (mostly) shops with pies and fresh cream goods....so we have to be careful not to pee them off cuz we need them to sell our products. Unless they are owned by a chain, we do prefer COD but with some it is just not possible. So its a serious case of treading gently but firmly and if they owe more than 2 months I do tend to get a little more frequent in my calling, shall we say!

No unfortuantely nothing we can sell on Ebay, all stock is perisable! (?sp)

I see what you mean i would be no good selling them I would eat all the stock, and selling on ebay it did make me giggle to myself.
Our local market has a stall on a Saturday and then does the local carboot on sunday is this something you could do they always look busy, just means working weekends not sure if it's profitable.
I can always think of ideas for others but im rubbish at ideas for myself thats why im where i am i guess.
