Thanks Taxi - oven lovely but worktop screwed. - I set the bag with cleaning stuff and shelves in it on worktop in two diff places and have managed to very badly mark the worktop permanently - I am a nob head!

Ebay - I have 7 items selling £10.70, so not so bad, 3 bids on things I listed today. Now have a total of 107 x

LOL -inspired, I am just desperate!

I could claim on insurance but it is just laminate.
However the worktop is the length of the kitchen (galley style) - 3 metres but all the same how much would I get and would they cover the cost of fitting it, which is always the most expensive part. Plus taking out the damaged one would affect the tiling on wall, would insurance cover that too?

Your excess plus your premiuims going up after a claim will make it a waste of time I guess and it also depends on whether you have accidental damage cover.

That is what I was thinking taxi, we do have accidential damage, but it is just not a case of replacign the worktop is it - all the other bits would cost even more than the worktop

I wouldn't bother claiming if it's just laminate...it will cost you more that it's worth. You can probably get i replaced for relatively little, but if it's liveable at the minute, throw something over the top so you don't have to look at it and wait until later. x

:rotfl: So when you say 'laminate', what does it look like when it's 'normal'?

It is fake dark wood - mahogany colour - so now it has big blotches of pale mahogany, like a huge stain - truely delightful
