People who talk through plays and films

Options
I went to see Mary Poppins last night. Paid a fortune for the tickets (even though they were the cheapest!) and it was wonderful. However, people very close to me were chatting the whole way through. Gosh, it's so annoying. Surely if you want to chat then you a) wouldn't have gone to see the musical or b) had a conversation after the show? It's not like they were passing comments every now and again (which I can cope with), but it was constant chatter. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

I'm off to the cinema tonight, so hopefully it won't be too bad in the chatter stakes.

PS Mary Poppins was WONDERFUL and I highly recommend it!

Yeah, had this during "Vagina Monologues" in London. Drove half the audience nuts. Someone went and told a member of staff and the culprits were stood over and told to shhh by the staff member from then on (they were in aisle seats). It's worth complaining to staff if it's occurring during a live performance.

And what an insult to the people on the stage never mind the annoyance to the rest of the audience when people talk through a performance...

I have no problem asking people to be quiet during performances....why should they be allowed to spoil what should be a very enjoyable experience >:(

I find it really annoying too!

;DBut I cant think about that now as I'm too busy being jealous that you went to see Mary Poppins ;D

Glad you had a good time :)
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

I reckon that 95% of the audience were adults, with a few "token" children. ;D

    ...typical of Blair's Britain!!!
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...

The simple solution would seem to be to tell them not to do it?
    Works for me.

That would be the simple solution yes, but when you don't want to trample over other people it's easier said than done.

I would have put up with 30 seconds of inconvenience to avoid a couple of hours of irritation, but each to their own.

Might be better to 'ask' them....and stick a 'please' on the end :P
