Or the amount it costs the department for appeals for each benefit, caused by their own errors or fraud.
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
    [/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

I think child benefit should be changed to a tax allowance per child (to be used by the mother or father).

Instead the NHS has become top heavy and now has more managers than nurses.

    Urban myth - it doesn't

  • Personally I would time limit some benefits - like incapacity benefit, those that did return to work would be allowed to keep their benefits for a period of time, 6 months or a year. With a time limit on when said benefit would be available to them again.

Incapacity benefit rises over time - I would stop that and it would be paid at a flat rate regardless of time on the benefit.

Same for income support (or what ever it is called now) - time limited - but keep benefits for a period of time if you find a job. With no return to that benefit for "x" amount of time

Perhaps a lifetime limit on either of those benefits of 5 or 10 years.

I would probably increase some benefits like child benefit - children are an asset to our country and are future tax payers - we need to value them.

I would invest in local transport initiatives to allow people to get to work - in areas of high unemployment - particularly rural or semi rural - there is often poor public transport and if people don't have access to cars often can't get to or can't afford to get work.

Tax credits - you would need to analyse the cost of the tax credits vs full benefits including housing benefit, free school meals etc, to see if tax credits are worth paying - I suspect they are. I know the scheme is administered by HMRC, but the system is open to abuse and I would directly link tax credit payments to the tax system.

    I could go on forever.......

Depends on whose kids they are. Most kids born to chav filth will just grow up to be more chave filth and future benefit claimants, not future tax payers.

The more child benefit you pay, the more the parents will spend it on alchopops, booze, fags and drugs.

These people need to be stopped from having children, not encouraged!

I am all heart - if decent people want children, I am all for it, and the parents should receive a tax rebate from their earnings. Plus, the parents should be able to pool their taxes whilst one stays at home to look after the child/children.

    That is good.

Encouraging slags to get up the duff to get a bigger council flat or more child benefit helps no one, especially the child who will have no chance. How can anyone be decently raised by a pig ignorant filthy chav? They can't.

  • I like the idea of limiting CB and tax credits to the first three or four children.

Ex pats should NOT be getting winter fuel payments.

Stop paying people to have children - £500 maternity grant???

The thing is, some of the proposed measures will cost to implement - I imagine the cost of means testing CB would outweigh the benefits.

Can we just be clear here...who exactly are you speaking about?

All those who claim benefits and who are not working, or just a specific type of benefit claimant?

What is your definition of decent?
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
