Thanks - I might give it a go on some towels and see how it goes.

Well back from the wash - not the best laundry I've ever done but good for a quick freshen up on clothes that arent really dirty.

  • I buy a bottle of Asda's Cream Bath, £1.12 for 2 litres and fill up shower bottles and hand wash bottles with it. My skin is on the dry side and I've suffered no ill effects neither have the rest of the family.

I've been using the Avon Sensitive bubble bath for shower gel and handwash for a couple of months now with no ill effects. They stopped doing the Sensitive in shower gel a while back when they brought out the Senses range, which smells lovely, but I can't use it brings on my ezxema. Changed to the Dry Skin Relief shower gel for a while, and that was great......but discovered that they still did the Sensitive bubble bath, so bought some to try it out as it was much cheaper than the DSR shower gel. Success! :D

I'm a chemist and have worked on these tyes of products. If you look at the ingredients on the botles they are all essentially the same - just varying amounts depending on whether they are supposed to be shower gel, shampoo, bubble bath etc. The difference is usually in the amount of foaming they are supposed to produce and the fragrance etc. Essentially all of these types of products are detergents and designed to clean. I wouldn't recommend using BB or SG on your hair though - extra conditioning agents and silicon are added to shampoo to produce a more smooth and "softened" effect - SG and BB usually don't have these and you'll probably end up like a scarecrow with very dry and frizzy hair.

I have nothing to add to this topic, but would like to second this comment!

When I went into hospital to have my daughter, I didn't want to take too many bottles with me so I had a lightbulb moment - 'I'll double up my showergel as shampoo!'. Oh how I wish I had taken the shampoo to use as showergel - I ended up going the eight days I was in with the aforementioned Scarecrow hair

A lot of people condition as well as shampoo every wash - luckily I don't need to - but I've always used cheap shampoo (even w/up liquid in emergencies) and a good conditioner.
I make my own conditioners these days though :)

Hi Mojo. I would be interested to know how you make your own conditioner as I use it after every wash and it is expensive.
