Gas Boiler - Is it working?

I have just completed on a house and as a condition of the purchase I asked for confirmation that the heating system was working. The vendor confirmed that it was.

I went to the house today and flipped the switch on the boiler (Ferroli 24B) and nothing came up on the boiler display. The vendor said that the gas meter needed topped up.

I am assuming that even though the gas meter needs topped up that there should be some sort of display on the bolier and so the boiler isn't working properly.

Can someone confirm this for me and give any suggestions as to what the problem could be.

Thanks

PS The electricity is working fine.

I'm not familiar with the bioler so only going on a logical walkthrough here.

Is there a power light on the boiler?
Is there any noise from the boiler?
Is there a switched spur for the boiler that is tuned off? (would have been my guess)
Do you have a seperate feed for the boiler with an MCB in your consumer unit and is it on?

If nothing at all is happening then I would have thought something had tripped/been turned off.

Look for a switched fused outlet near the boiler and turn this on first.

The display should be visible regardless of whether there is any gas or not

Yeah, the switched fuse isn't lighting up, even though the seller says that the switch is working. I think he is trying to dodge fixing this. Could possibly only need a new fuse.

Do you know what ampage would be needed for a bolier?

I didn't want to get solicitors involved in this but looks as if I will have to as he seems to be trying to fob me off.

    Thanks for your help.

Did the vendor confirm it was working in writing?
Try replacing the fuse with same as the blown one, probably 13amp if in a switched outlet.

Otherwise it's up to you, the buyer to check that the boiler is working and most importantly safe.

    Hi

The boiler and other electrical components making up a c/h system must be protected with a 3 amp fuse.

You should have checked the boiler was working when you viewed the house.
Now it's a game of 'yes it was ....no it isn't '..................................

I'm sure you're right there, I thought the 3 amp would be in the boiler itself and the outlet would probably have a standard 13, the max for an outlet. Sorry.
