It's definitely a central london price and some of the surrounding area but not all of greater london, I think some other big cities are the same and all Boots in all UK airports are pricer regardless if the local boots are the cheaper price (I learnt this the hard way!). For the snacks one of my local boots says it's only snacks under ??£1.35?? and I was hoping to get the trio of cadbury cream eggs (this worked last year) but somehow the price of them has gone up in this one store.....I've had too many 'discussions' before with them so I wouldn't want to try these larger bars here as they probably wouldn't even try to put it through. I've tried those olives too and they are yummy.
  • Somebody was telling me that olives are like salt magnets, and EACH OLIVE contains more than one person's Recommended Daily Allowance of salt? Must check that out on tinternet...

    OK according to this link:
    http://www.olives101.com/2006/11/08/removing-bitterness-of-olives-leaves-a-lot-of-salt/
15 grams of olives (3-5 olives, depending on size) contain about 115 milligrams of sodium. (In pimento-stuffed olives, the sodium can be twice that amount.)
So assuming the best-case scenario of it being 5 olives without pimentos, each olive averages 23 milligrams of sodium.

    According to this link:
    http://saga.drfoster.co.uk/guides/vitaminsMinerals/sodium.asp
RDA is up to 1,600 mg.

Guess the person that told me that was talking out of their backsides, then? :rotfl:
Healthy adults need between 70 and 460 mg of sodium a day.
We can eat our olives, knowing that once we have eaten three of them we have satisfied our body's minimum requirement for salt for that day! Love olives. ;)
Thanks to all who post constructively.

forgive me if I'm confused, but why exactly is this a grabbit? Boots have been doing meal deals for as long as I can remember!

Because there's now a glitch meaning you can get big bags of sweets in the deal as well as they cost £1.89. PLUS the offer of 2 drinks - did you read all of the OP?

Yes, I did read the whole of the thread...sarky moo!

And the fact is that things like this have always been available - it's not a glitch - it's just the way the boots tills work. In fact the boots tills used to work on a price basis for meal deals, as they would often charge me a little bit more when I bought something that went over the allowed amount.
IIRC this changed to a more product based offer/deal when they implemented the buy 5 and get the 6th free, as this forced you to use your Advantage card, theby allowing Boots to gather data on what you were buying.
It's exactly the same as getting BOGOF drinks in the meal deal too, or buy to Cokes for £1.60, and only have to pay the difference (ie the 55p-60p)

Maybe now I have demonstrated that I do actually know a little bit of what I am talking about, and challenge you to putting more of your sarcastic energy into something a little more productive. Such as a real grabbit maybe?

Well I did wonder about it being in the grabbit forum too as I've been doing it with the big bags for ages, hence my big backside:o but at least it brings it to the attention of others and so that can only be a good thing right?! After all, that is what this site is all about :)

    Thanks Claire21.
    1) This is a grabbit because the drink bogof is not long term.
    2) There was no mention of healthy eating in the OP.
    3) Clearly those who have had a dig about the above, are clearly bored and have nothing better to do.
    4) As the MSE team have added their insert, clearly they agree with Claire and not the wingers.
  • Clearly those who have had a dig about the above, are clearly bored and have nothing better to do.
I didn't want a meal deal that involved eating junk food, so I thanked the OP and said it wasn't for me, then a poster that is a lot more constructive than you (although that's admittedly no great achievement) pointed out that there are some healthy options available, but the OP had neglected to mention them.
Thanks to all who post constructively.
