Maintenance grant delays...

Options
So essentially I am havving problems claiming my maintenane grant from the SFE.

I initially applied for the means tested loan last year in the hopes tat i could claim the maintenance grant. i gave all my employment / earnings details online and hen sent in all relevant documentation to prove my earnings over the past 3 years.

long story short, after returning my birth certificate SFE managed to lose all my financil info i sent them. they have asked me to resubmit the info but i was unable to as i sent them original documents from companies that no longer exist so i cannot get the documentation again and I dont know how to go about getting the details from when i claimed JSA.

They SFE told me to get a statement of earnings from the HMRC if i was unable to get the ino from employers (that no longer exist) i finally got the address of the correct tax office and wrote a letter requestig a statement of earnings nearly 3 weeks ago.

as time goes by im worried if this was the best and correct way of getting a statement of earnings from HMRC. ive already missed out on UNI burseries because of the delay of getting my grant and am getting very stressed out over the whole situation.

can anyone advise me if this is the right process?

thanks

I'd call your local HMRC office and ask them what the best way for you to get a statement like this is. At least by calling them you should be able to get some specific advice and perhaps a name to write to.
Just spoke to my mum - she works within the HMRC. She said that if you call your local tax office and speak to them, they'll be able to send you a letter with employer, pay and tax figures.
