Air Asia refusing to refund

Welcome back Sam Bee!Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

To be fair, if the boats are not that regular, you do seem to have taken a big risk in only allowing two hours between your flight and the boat. I am not sure of Air Asia's reliability, but what would you have done if the flight had been delayed?
I had thought that.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Please don't tempt people into starting that thread, or up'ing an old one. I assume there will be a rush of requests approaching easter holidays, then again prior to summer.
Conclusion is always the same - pay for the class of travel you wantLegal team on standby0 -

The two hours to spare was a conservative estimate allowing for an hour to make it through customs and another hour to transfer to the boat. That should have seen us at the dock with between two to three hours to spare - more than enough time to deal with anything other than a drastic delay, but not enough time to make alternative connecting flights.£25,040 of credit card debt cleared!

I agree you now have a flight to KUL that you are not going to get refunded.
does anyone know if travel insurance would aid with the additional costs for the alternative connecting flights
That's my question as well - would be good to know where I stand before I call them up, in case they try and fob me off. Has anyone had a simliar situation?£25,040 of credit card debt cleared!

If that doesn't work out for you then you will have to look at Jakarta. Garuda do actually offer connecting flights from KL to Manado daily (someone can translate):
GA 819 08MAY KULCGK HS2 0710 0810
GA 600 08MAY CGKMDC HS2 1045 1505
GA 601 18MAY MDCCGK HS2 1545 1745
GA 818 18MAY CGKKUL HS2 2010 2310
Trouble is that I don't think you can book Garuda international flights online. Solution - call up the Garuda Sales Office in the UK (it exists!). This may be the best option at limiting your losses timewise.
Otherwise, all you can do is firefight, and start minimising your losses and start begging with airline and hotel involved.
Hope you make it, the diving is second to none (well, except for the Togian Islands, but you won't be making it there by Air Asia).
Cracking advice and some brilliant research.
The only thing I would say is that I would not choose to fly Garuda due to their appalling safety record.0 -
Thanks Richard. It'll just be a brief return i'm sure before I get thrown off again
Now where's the 'How to get a (not) Guaranteed MSE Airline upgrade' thread of the week kept these days?
Agree with this. This website lets itself down when it starts raising expectations that Club / Business is easy to blag. Ultimately it is for the people that pay for it....and subsidise the economy fares!0 -

Did you pay by credit card? IF Air Asia are in breach of contract - check their terms - you may have a claim pursuant to s.75 Consumer Credit Act 1974.0 -
