Why just tape some cardboard over the vents with some duck tape for the time being.0

You may not like the idea that the Council will not do what you want, but if I was renting out a house I would certainly not take out a gas fire at a tenants request. The responsibility for your child's safety is entirely yours and as such, it is up to you to sort out a solution for yourself. The obvious answer is the use of a fire guard.
If the child was sticking things in the socket outlets would you expect to have them removed as well.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Fireguard is a must. When i had my children the health visitor done a home visit and went through what we would need. This is also in the childrens little red medical book regarding how to keep your home safe.
Our local council don`t do any major work to a property, when we moved in to our flat it was ex warden control and had a disability shower which they were not removing. We got permission to do this ourselves as we have children so shower was not good for us.DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j
