Council not emptying my bin.

Morning all,
Im pretty new to this forum so take it easy on me:).
My reason for posting is that my wheelie bin was last emptied on 29th Jan and was wondering if there is anything legal I can do.
I have spoke to the council and they actually said that the bin men have not put any reason on the time sheet as to why my bin ( and 6 other people on my side ) have not been emptied. I have filed an official complaint which will take 28 days to get a response, so I've gone down the official routes.
At the moment I have 2 and a bit weeks of waste, I have a 4 week old daughter who is generating her own stock pile and I'm having to take a bag each day to the local tip to prevent a build up as my collection day is friday.
I'm just wondering if I can claim cost for the trips to the local tip as I already pay my council tax for a service which is'nt being provided.
Any advice is much appreciated.

start dumping in black bags at the side of the road, that will get their attention! You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0 -
Don't take it to the tip, take it to the council offices and leave it thereFor every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0

AS you were ( with 6 others ) missed , surprised the council does not send bin men back .
Thats what happens here.0 -
I've just called them again and again there is no reason why my bin was'nt collected on 12th. This is an absolute joke im seriously close to filling my car up with rubbish bags and dumping them on the town hall steps. Think I'm gonna ring Bolton Evening News see if there interested in the story and citizens advise see if I can get a small claim for the petrol im using.
I'm absolutely fuming..................0 -
When you called, did you say that yours hadn't been emptied or that a whole street hadn't been emptied; have you spoken to others and got everyone to call up and complain?
If you all called on the hour every hour I'm sure they would send the wheelie-truck round.....0 -
Phone your ward councillor (name and address should be on the council website) for your area. Have a very polite conversation with him/her explaining the problem, and ask them to get it escalated before you deliver the rubbish somewhere to make a public point. Obviously I'm not in your area but the normal procedure is that if a councillor starts asking questions in a department it gets resolved pretty quickly.Adventure before Dementia!0

I told the chap on the phone that there was about 6 of my 'neighbours' who were in the same boat, I will speak to my neighbours see if they have complained. In fact I'm gonna make a leaflet and print a few off and post it through there letter boxes.
I'm gonna ring my ward councillor this second.

Unlucky a phone call normally gets the reserve wagon round within 24 hours if there has been a problem.
Having said that I am now on first name terms with the foreman, since a dispute with a neighbour and them putting up gates stopped the binmen coming up our lane for 2 months resulted in me having to lay a 400m2 area to allow the bin lorry to turn.....:mad:0 -

I had same problem, 3 weeks missed and I wasn't only one. I kept calling and I got apologies, excuses and promises of recollection that never appeared. I repeatedly asked to speak to her manager as I appreciated there was nothing she could do, these were met with "he's busy, he's in a meeting etc etc" In the end I asked the person on the phone what sort of car her manager drove. She replied a BMW. Why was I asking? I said that if my bin was not emptied by the end of play that day, the following morning I was going to ferry my wheelie bin contents to the car park of the council call centre, and deposit its contents on the bonnet of his cherished beemer. Would she be so kind as to relay this message to her manager. I had a knock at the door within 20 mins, a man in a council van (in a suit I might add) arrived to take away my excess bin bags and that of my neighbours, and later the same afternoon the bin wagon came and emptied the bins
It hasn't happened again!
CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0
