right it considered links 'pop ups' and therefore opened in new window so just changed setting in internet options to 'open pop ups in new tab' this will do for now also save soo many seperate windows as well.0 -

thanks for the replies-i'll try the opening in new tab one on dad - tho he prefers new windows opened each time!! i give up, all he has to do is click a box!! ive tried the resizing one, that worked for the main screen - but not when you click on a link and it opens up a second window - that is still half size, no matter how many times i resize that and "save" the setting. the screen is quite large - but i don't think that will make any difference to it?0

Right click on the short cut to the browser(s) you want to make maximised, then goto properties then goto 'run' and select 'maximized' see if this works.0

have tried all the suggestions - huge thanks, but none of them have worked? when he opens a new link, it still opens up just half the screen. ive told him he's just going to have to live with it, or use firefox unless anyone can suggest anything different!!
dad tends to mither a lot about stuff - mum in hospital with leukeamia (been in 5wks this stint) so at least worrying about his small window keeps his mind off things!0
