    Hey guys,

Can I add best offer to an item already listed. (if so how?) No watchers yet but 9+ days to go.

    Many thanks.

I had an offer of 25p on a £20 item!
 And I thought the one I got (50p for a £6.99 item) was bad!
Newmoneysaver, I think Best Offer can be added later: if you click Revise Your Item you should find it under "edit details" or something? I'm sure someone will be along with a more knowledgable answer soon.
  • I usually offer about 15% less then reoffer at 10% if not accepted.

I thought you could only make 1 offer for each item as a buyer? I've accepted low offers (not too low though!) as I need to get rid of the item & had no other offer on it.

I don't think the people are being cheeky at all. They probably think that if 1 out of every 5 accepts then they have done well.

It doesn't really waste much time either, if you dont like the offer then ignore it.

Some people are definitely just cheeky. They make bids that could not possibly be accepted. For example, i got a £9 bid on an item that could never ever sell for £9 - there's no way anyone could think that.

I guess they just thought they'd be 'smart' and 'funny'. But it is a waste of time - it achieves absolutely nothing else.

I've got a phone on at the moment (worth a fair bit) and someone offered me £55 worth of cigarettes for it! I posted the question and my response on the listing. Maybe that was a bit harsh of me?! Had fun though! Phone listing

I turn down offers I find unacceptable, its simple, if you want more for it and you think it is a fair price, don't take the offer, wait. There are always people that will try it on. You can always list for free if it doesn't sell.

I got offered cigs for some vouchers I was selling! Maybe cigs are the new Nigerian scam!

Well cheeky people making cheeky offers don't like it when it's done back to them.

I sell a number of phones at about £100 + £6 shipping. These are sold on BIN and I do not list offers accepted.

About once every 4-6 weeks I get a buyer question saying will you accept £50 including postage. Quite frankly I find this somewhat insulting, and it usually illicits the response, Yes I will accept £150 plus postage and then I block them from bidding. They get quite arsey when they get a cheeky reply back.

My view is, if the seller has decided not to auction the item but list it is BIN and has not added offers accepted then it is very clear that they want the asking price.

If the auction ends unsold then that is another matter, to make the seller an offer.

I wouldn't personally buy an item at the 'buy it now price' if it had a 'make an offer' option. Surely by having the offer option, you are letting someone know you don't really expect to get the buy it now price.

I have used this reasoning not to use Best Offer on my sales.

Mind you I think I would use it if I was selling a car. Do people still list cars in the parer as £XXX ono, Is this not a similar thing?
