we have been going to hemsby for the last 4 yrs with my little un he absolutely loves it, the beach is fantastic.. we are off in a couple weeks time... i can thoroughly recommend it with youngsters especialy in this weather
we also go to belle aire site, we used to go thru carefree but usually ended up with the less then brilliant chalets but for the last 2 yrs we found a private owner and its costing us £239 this year for a 2 bed chalet which is spotless

I must say being a moneysaving loony I like the sound of the cheap chalets - but - do you get what you pay for or is it good value for money??? i.e. is it comfortable enough to stay in if you wanted or is it a bit grim and oyu wantto be out all the time?
The caravan I'm in is spotless and lovely and even has a DOUBLE
power shower and a washer drier which is essential for my brood. we payed 451 for it over the internet.. However, last year we went to haven at Haggestone Castle and paid £850 for a silver and it was DIRE. we were in the worst and noisiest spot in the park and the caravan was a mess and even worse our bed was knackered and really squeeky so me and hubby were a bit peeved
it was so bad we went home3 days early on the thurs as the weather was bad too - don't want a repeat of that!!
As for hemsby, we have decided to have another holiday the last week in August so we'll be thereI am a Mortgage Adviser

Does anyone know how far the haven site "wild duck" is from the train station? We go by train usually- have been to caister and seashore a few times - and need a fairly short bus journey/taxi ride to the caravan site due to travel sick kids.
Or, do you know what the vauxhall site is like? I think it's a park resorts site.
Hope someone can help

Wild Duck is by me, about 10 minutes in a car so a taxi would probably set you back about £15 depending on luggage etc. Its a fair way out of town so you would have a trek in and out to the beaches etc.
Vauxhall is just across the road from the train station and a very good park which is very popular. Its within easy walking distance of the town centre and the beach if you go the right way.
If it was me choosing l would go for Vauxhall

the privtae chalet we stay in is absolutely spotless he even supplies loo roll etc.. we have rebooked it this year and will do next year if we can (so that gives u a hint how good it was)
it is certainly much better then the others i have stayed in thru carefree >.. not that i am suggesting all their chalets are under par maybe we were jus unlucky

I've stayed at the Haven site at Caister (on a sun holiday) and it was nice. I wouldnt rate it as being as nice as the Seashore one at Yarmouth though. There was much less to do there for the children. There is a nice pub in Caister though with a children's play area called The Castle. You have to pay for your children to go on the play area but when you do you get a £1 voucher for the bar. So you can have a free coffee in the bar while your children are being looked after on the play area. They also do lovely meals there and an all you can eat carvery for £5. Then if you go a bit further up the same road there is the Caister Roman ruins which you can walk round for free.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I'd probably choose Haven Seashore in Yarmouth if you want this area. It's much nearer to all the action and there will be something to please everyone. I also like Primrose Valley in Filey near Scarborough though.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I've been to primrose valley its havens flagship park and its fantastic but i do prefer the seashore site I am on at the moment as you get better weather darn sarf. thegrass is a bit scorched down here isnt it?
Today we went to the beach at gorleston it was really nice we liked it a lot. the little boy (2) has had enough of the sun though and my two youngest have burned despite several applications of garnier kids spf30. hubby feels sick and is dehydrated so tommorow I'm on the lookout for something to do to keep them all out of the sun! Any ideas saturn?I am a Mortgage Adviser

In Gorleston again there is an indoor play area called House of Fun. Parents can relax and have a drink (non alcoholic) while little ones play in a huge children's play area. Here's the webste for it:

Theres also theres another similar play area on Lowestoft Seafront called Mayhem which is in the East Point Pavilion.
Are you in the area next week as the Air Show is on?
Also in Lowestoft there is the Sparrows Nest Park, Lowestoft where there are a few free museums to visit (but I don't know how suitable they will be for little ones) and theres also a cafe and bar.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
