Help me decide please.
Time to get a new phone, cannot decide between the SonyEric W995 or Nokia 6700.
Both free on 24 month contract with Orange

No competition for me - the sony - its got 8megapixel camera and wi-fi (the nokia does not have wifi i think).

Just depends on how you like slider phones - me I would go for the sony - the nokia is too boring - its like the 6300 and 6303 both of which my bro got - ok enough but I want more in a phone.
  • My mistake - the Nokia is free & the SE W995 is either £100 or £50 depending on whether you go for 18 months or 24 months.

    Sorry, Bon

Hmm bit of a rip off to be honest, I seen the w995 free with cheaper deals and on Orange.
    Is it direct deal?

Some thread on here, someone got an upgrade from Orange with w995 for 18 months with free phone and paying only £5 a month. Awesome if its true (and I do not doubt the poster).
  • w995 is a good all rounder and wi fi is a good feature to have, good batt life too

I think the 6700 is ugly and you get a titchy screen at expense of the keyboard. I did luv my 6300 though,
    but now into touch screens
Nokia are bringing out a 6700 slide. I have a 5800 and luv it!
The 6700 does have some good features though but you need a bigger screen for maps etc.

  • Buy the w995 SIM-free and unlocked from Phones 4u for £199 and then get yourself a SIM only deal. Much cheaper. Go through quidco for cashback on the SIM-only deal.

w995 is a lovely phone btw.
  • Have gone for the W995 with Orange via Quidco.

Quidco website last night said £120 cashback so I ordered late on.
Deal has been removed today - Hmmm - will see what happens.

Thanks for all the help, Bob
  • Bob,

I've heard some bad things about the branding of the w995 on Orange. The great thing about the Phones 4u phone is that they come with the proper firmware - so Google maps for free rather than the crap and £5 per month Orange maps. i think they've also done strange and bad things with menus and wifi. Just google orange and branding. If you know what you're doing you can debrand and put on decent firmware.

Only 3 and Vodafone let you stream TV over 3G. See http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/help/mobile/mobile_phone

It is a great phone but Orange has a habit of ruining phones. The cashback sounds good though.
