What a strange question, I wouldn't have any friends that would ask me for money.

In fact I don't have any friends... that could be the reason then.

I've already said that was a misunderstanding and apologised several times. Nice bottom though :D

Blimey, I never realised there were people with that much of a brass neck!

Never been asked, and if anyone has been asked, I also think they should report it to administrators.

There was a thread on here a couple of years back that developed into people offering money to another poster. It made me really uncomfortable and I objected. Got slated for objecting, but I reported the thread regardless and it was pulled.

I saw another poster offering £50 to someone on here fairly recently as well.
  • Offering to help someone who appears to be in desperate need really is any entirely different thing to being asked directly
  • I've not seen it happen here, the time when it happened to me was in a chatroom back in 2000 - there was a crowd of us who would be there regularly. One of the women (American) did have that brass neck and made a habit of befriending each of us and then ask for money. It was odd as the Americans on the site seemed to think that the British (far fewer) on there were much better off - I think it was because the general standard of English amongst us Brits was so much higher than the general standard amongst the Americans (with very notable exceptions).

I think a couple of men did fall for her game and send her money, and I know one other woman who was very friendly with her did send her quite a lot of money at one point.

As I've said, it's not something I've seen here, so no need to panic!
  • There is someone on the DFW board now asking someone to be his guarantor! Put his phone number and everything.
