    Hi,

Going to Dublin with my husband & 2 sons (both in their late teens). We're looking for a hotel for just 1 night near the centre but not too near the noise! Don't have a huge budget - would like to pay less than £200 for the 4 of us including full Irish breakfast (boys have healthy appetites :D ).

    Any suggestions please?

We've stayed at both the Brooks hotel and the Camden Court.. would recommend Camden Court as a really good 3* for the price - try this website http://www.hotel-ireland.com/ we found it cheaper via them - you can sort by ratings and read reviews. A deposit is required and the rest is paid to the hotel.
We arrived early and had full use of the facilities ( pool etc ) until a room was available. The breakfasts were pretty good, eat as much as you like, and the bar meals were wholesome too. We took an nornal bus from the airport with dropped us off a few yards away from the hotel.

The Brooks was also pretty nice , room a bit pokey and did smell of smoke, which didn't go down too well with me as I'm asthmatic and I had asked for a non-smoking room. They also lost out dinner reservation for the saturday night ( my hubby's birthday ) and told us the restauraunt was full. A table was eventually found - squashed into a corner and service was very slow. Still, it had a nice atmosphere, was quite central but was a lot pricier than the Camden.

Probably 2 rooms would be better, we're going Wednesday next week for 1 night and wouldn't mind either a hotel or good B&B. although husband is a bit choosy and would prefer to pay a little bit more for somewhere 'nice' but I'm the one left to worry about the budget!

A recommendation would be great so I appreciate your help :)

Hi, thanks for this. Just going to have a look at that website.

As we are only there for 1 night would you say it was easy walking distance to some of the main areas?
  • Russell court hotel or harcourt hotel are both really close and handy to centre 5 mins walk or so

    Sorry, pressed thanks by mistake..
As for hotel - it's just south west of St Stephens's Green. We walked most of the time - around 10 minutes to the centre- but sometime we caught a bus - it's only a couple of stops.

i would try" Days hotel "in Talbot street or "Jurys custom house ".
Both are as central as you can get .
They both do breakfast but its not included in most web prices but mid week prices are cheap.

Jurys have a second layer of double glazing to keep the noise out ,works very well .
