Dull laminate floors

  • I have beautfully sparkly laminate floors, and I clean mine with..... NOTHING!!

Yes - you heard, nothing! Well, kind of... I invested in a steam cleaner and I pop a microfibre cloth onto the floor attachment and off I go. Then, when it's dry (only takes a minute with the back door open) I put on a dry microfibre cloth and give it a quick whizz over.

Worth it's weight in gold, my steam cleaner!

    Hi all

Ive got a laminate wooden floor in my living room , and in the middle ive had quite a large rug down, however having two large smelly dogs im fed up of getting it cleaned and it still not being fresh !, so ive decided to take it up, but where its been is dull ? all the rest of the floor has a sheen to it , but where the rug was is dull so u can see it really clearly, ive tried washing it in my normal wooden floor cleaner that i use on rest of floor but its made no diff, any ideas pls ?

hmmmmmmmmm could be caused by fluff from the back of the rug sticking to the surface of the laminate. can you try scraping a bit? if this is the case then I would try gently scraping the laminate then re - washing the floor. or if you have a steam cleaner then steam it clean and then use your usual floor wash. failing that.................I have no idea! but I am sure someone will be along soon who had the same prob and will tell you how they got rid of it!

    Anyone any ideas ? :@)
  • I can't help with the laminate, but why not get a large washable rug or mat to go in the same place? Then it won't smell?

I also have two big dogs and use use non slip vet bed that doesnt slip on laminate and it washes & dries really well with no nasty smell. (Just search "non slip vet bed" on Ebay, there are different colours & designs available).

I'm not being nasty (honest!) but why do your dogs smell? Do you groom them regularly?

If they have an old dog odour (I know some dogs do) then you can sprinkle bicarbonate of soda through their coats and then brush out. This can help neutralise some doggy odours.

You can also sprinkle bicarbonate on carpets & rugs, leave for a while then hoover to tackle smells. Good luck.

    Hi !

NO i dont think your being rude lol, i dont know why they blumin smell , they get washed and blowdryed at the local salon once a month, they just stink !, im sure its when they go for a walk thorugh the woods there in puddles and all sorts.

Ive got vet bed for them in there crates, it is fab stuff washable and takes the wet of them, but i dont want to have a pieice down in room all the time, i love my wool rug :@)

I think im going to shampoo it with my mums carpet cleaner, then see how it is, maybe i will jst have to shampoo it more regular, then again i am a bit ocd with smells lol
  • If they are in the woods some dogs like to roll in fox poo my DDs dogs love doing that and she has to be careful where they walk.
