Carphone Warehouse Repairs

Options
HI

I hope someone can help me.

I took out a contract with CPW in December 2008 and had a Sony Ericcson C905.

6 months later in June 2009, the phone broke, CPW sent it away for repair, but it broke again in July and again in August.

In January 2010, the phone is now 12 months old, it broke again, this time CPW sent it away for repair, but sent me a reconditioned hand set. A week later it broke again still in January. At the beginning of February it broke again, and CPW gave me another reconditioned handset, 2 days later the phone failed again.

I have now had 3 phones and this will be the 7th repair. :(

I am now at the point of despair, but CPW wont give me a like for like replacement although its obvious from other forums that there has and still is a problem with this handset.

Why are they still giving me other peoples reconditoned phones, out of the 13 months I have had this contract my orignal phone ony lasted 6 months, since then I have had to put up with second hand ones.

How can this be right? Surely there comes a time when enough is enough the handset is obviously not fit for purpose. I don't want another repair but still have 5 months left on my contract.

Any suggestions greatly apprecited.

  • I have one. If you really expect this incompetent and dishonest company to actually know HOW to repair a faulty phone you are almost always going to be disappointed. Next time, try and find a decent company to buy from. CPW will always act this way with repairs etc. There are lots of posts on various threads to that effect and I have quite a lot of personal instances where it has been thus (though since I never actually paid for my contracts there are worse things - just better companies!).

mobilejunkie, who would you go to for a "free" deal from at the moment for 200 to 300 mins?

  • Buymobilephones offers them (possibly Beepy). I wouldn't touch the latter and am not entirely convinced about the former.

Thanks, what would be the best deal from a reliable company?

  • Depends what you mean by reliable. Since there are so few around at present I don't tend to broadcast them - may need to resort to a non-free contract myself in the not too distant future!
