Thats definetely better!
Payment wise (OH putting his pennys worth in here) what about offering Paypal? For some reason PP gives buyers loads of reassurance when buying items (no idea why, there useless!)
Anyways, I'm being hounded off the laptop so the OH can download drivers
Night everyone!0 -
i was thinking of offering paypal but i have an issue with paypal at the moment (it was posted much earlier on this forum) where ebay and paypal have limited my accounts at the moment due to someone else in my household was banned from selling (they were selling some legal adult stuff on ebay which apparently posed as high risk items and decided to shut them down)
In the same process as we share an internet connection, address and phone number they have done the same to me (i am going through the appeal processes and sent the id documentation they asked me for) however reading on other forums this could take weeks or months to be resolved
sorry was digressing there wasnt i a little which is why at the moment i offer google checkout (plus they are much cheaper for receiving payments - buyer still has the protection of a chargeback anyway):j:jDribbling my way to financial success:j:j

Good points, adding to this ...
--- I would advise that you remove the highlighting of text on the front page
--- Remove the bold from the wording on the about us page
--- Make the text a little bit larger on the Special Offers page
--- Rule 1 - Make your font size the same all the way through your website
1a, keep the same font through the website
1b, make it so that people can actually read the writing (I'm struggling with special offer page)
1c, keep same font colour through the website
Tip - lighten it up a bit, a black blackground and dark blue boxes do not work, try a light grey or a grey shade for the background (not white as then the blue would be too harsh)
Tip 2 - get rid of the free links at top of website as makes website look amateurish
Tip 3 - move the google checkout and checks/cheque logo pics as they are out of place just plonked at bottom of screen and below the bottom border which is meant to be the end of the page0 -
ps - hhh ... I am 99.9% sure that Paypal and Google Checkout have the same fees now. What you need to remember is that everyone knows how to use Paypal whereas not many people have a, heard of Google Checkout or b, know how to pay using Google Checkout
google - monthly sales Less than £1500 = 3.4% + £0.20
paypal - monthly sales £0.00 GBP - £1,500.00 GBP 3.4% + £0.20 GBP0 -

cally again thanks for the advice. just a couple of issues here with what your saying
The about us i cannot sort out as it is in the same font all the way (times new roman) and this isnt even in bold when i had a look so dont know what to do here.
The colouring i will be playing around with in the morning as i am currently not happy with it either. The site is too dark but as im getting tired it is probably not a good idea to try tonight.
The free advert thing at the top again i cant do much with as i have built via them for free so cant be rid of them unless i move onto their £15 a month shop which as a new webshop cannot afford yet.
Special Offer Page dult noted will sort that out in a minute.
Again with it being free webshop i cannot change the Google checkout logos and stuff but i wasnt happy with them being there. so will see if there is anyway of moving them
Finally cally (by the way i am just responding to your message as i dont want you thinking im being rude by not replying) you probably have read by now about the problems im suffering offering paypal at this precise moment but again ill be offering that as soon as these appeals are sorted out.
Honestly guys and girls thanks for all the feedback and keep it coming as its helping evolve.:j:jDribbling my way to financial success:j:j

Hey hhhonlyfan, cally6008 has given you a fantastic list. I was about to say some of the same things too. Also, don't rush things take your time and make sure that you have a site that you are happy with before doing a full marketing push. When I do sites for other people, it normally takes a minimum of 2 months to make sure that it is all working the way it should and tweaks.
I think you should work on the feedback, tweak the site to perfection and do a soft launch. Because, I know that I am a bit of a website snob and if a site doesn't look great the first time that I go; I won't bother going a second time.
I know that the £15 commitment is a bit much for you at the moment, but consider doing it as soon as possible.
But, keep on tweaking and make sure you are happy because once you start promoting the site it will be hard to change people's first impressions. I hope I am not putting a dampner on things because you have done a lot in a short time and I applaud that.
But, really make sure you get all of your tweaks sorted before promoting the site10K 2010 challenge £3202.59/£10000

thanks dillidalli. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. You have been superb in helping me out and getting me going. I cant really go gun ho on this to begin with and yes once i can get a few sales (literally 2 or 3) i will invest in the package to be rid of those things. Ill carry on keep tweaking and its coming along little by little. tomorrow ill have another go at some stuff as well. Dillidalli as you seem quite the expert as well i wondered how would you go about pushing the marketing. I dont really under SEO and google adwords myself.
Again much appreciated for everything you have done for me. As a starting point for 3 hours i do applaud myself got getting it in as a starter point:j:jDribbling my way to financial success:j:j

Hi all.
I'm a new poster and should be sleeping but am so inspired by you all and I want in too! I'm not sure if £10k is within my capabilities but I need to really take time to spend less, make more!
I was toying with the idea of making a few pound this year from Jan but only physically started doing something about it in the last two weeks. So far all I've done is:
- sold some gold jewellery
- used some of the money from the jewellery to buy Bon Jovi tickets to sell on Ebay. Haven't put them on ebay yet, not sure whether I should wait until I have the tickets in hand although I notice other sellers send just the confirmation email and then the tickets once they receive them.
Plans ahead:
-I have some bits in the loft to sell, again Ebay
- I want to sell my paperbacks but a lot of sites I've been on aren't interested in my books, might look at Amazon.
- if the Bon Jovi tickets work out I would like to try selling more, but something tells me it's harder work than it seems.
Thank you all for showing such motivation.
Good night x0
