Dare I say that the only card I've sold has been a teen/emo/goth type one. I think people find teens hard to buy for and like something a bit different. DD snapped up one for her mate that was sort of emo-y and had "happy whatever" on the front!

Saucy I'd delete that fairly soon and put it in your profile hun

  • 2 Cats - You don't need a partnership, bounce ideas and stresses off us here, you are an amazing business woman!

Jo - Thank you, I'm so glad it's finally up :) I've got 12 other notebooks to go up, but OH likes to do the listing and he's watching the rugby...I'll nag him in a bit, lol!

2cats would research it before dismissing it as it may have benefits that outweigh the drawbacks. What is wrong for one person may well be right for another.
Exciting this talk of new ventures.
Can't think of anything I have skills in that I can make money out of so will have to stick to selling of DH's music stuff!!!

Saucy hope that didn't seem like nagging. It will be worth waiting for and you need to take it easy.

Not at all, I'm being good. I got shouted at by my doctor earlier, so hopefully he'll give me some extra help next week, and I'm gonna be good and try to listen to my body. I promise :o

I love this thread..It feels like I've known you all for years and I love you all :)

Thanks for the reminder about links too, I've deleted it and I'll go put it in my profile!

Now I need to research promoting it...

ty, Saucy, but I do. Business #1 is getting pretty close to the VAT limit, and business #3 is similar enough in nature that HMRC (cover your eyes Nikki!) would lump it in with #1 for VAT purposes. A way of getting round that is to have a partnership, so that the ownership of the 2 businesses would be different, i.e. not just me! (Even if it was (ahem) owned by me and DH, say.) So that would make them 2 separate entities and therefore each would have their own VAT limit. I am planning on selling #1 at some point (was going to a while back but then the recession hit and I didn't want to sell cheap as chips because either people thought we were struggling - which we weren't - or because any potential buyer was having problems raising money or a business loan), but there will be a period when I have #1 and am building up #3 enough to make me some money.

#2 is the arty crafty stuff which if I was reliant on income from that I'd starve, but is waaaaay more fun!
  • Number 2 will take off. Especially with one of pieces like that boat...are you going to make more? Thats certainly something I'd buy for friends and gifts, and I know plenty of others who would too!

In your case I think a partnership would make sense, you have a good reason for it. I'm sure the software wouldn't be much, or you could see an accountant? They can be quite expensive but round here at least they are happy to help in quiet periods, and will do it for a small amount of cash in hand

    VAT sounds like hassle...
