A question for the arty folks - one of my ideas was to make art using recycled materials. What I want to do is make cat figures using either papier mache or cut up fabric as the 'outside', but I need something for the 'frame'. Any ideas? I can only think of wire.
Chicken wire is what you want, me thinks. You can mould it easily into the correct shape and ensure it stands up. I think papier mache AND fabric would be the way. Papier mache alone would be pretty destructable but using that as a base then adding fabric on top would be good. Plaster bandages would also be a great materiel and would give a very proffessional finish.0 -
Dillidalli, are you on misi too? If so, my one little item that I have listed is in your field, by the looks of it. Love your website, your stuff is amazing. The site I am building will not be a patch on it.
Not on Misi but more than happy to do a feature, let me know when you have your items ready and I will do a write up. x

I am watching 50 best kisses! Even sadder. I was determined to do some drawing before sleep but got caught up on here. Got to go to bed shortly as VERy early doctor's appointment.
Night dribblers!
BTW Lilac your kids are absolutely GORGEOUS wee moppets! I'm sure I could have a crack at painting them for you as they have very stand-out faces. (I hope that doesn't sound awful LOL)0 -
Ikkle - its the piccy on my FB profile that i fancied a painting of. I have a ton of piccys scattered over FB of them too. The have quite defined features I think. I think every mother think their kids are stunningMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000

I'll search out piccies tomorrow Ikkle, thank you! PMs don't seem to be working :S
Need to send my certificates tomorrow, and apparantly they will give me a 'provisional' offer until I show my actual certificates. That's good enough for me! And feel the wrath from my current uni for withdrawing. They won't be happy, so I'm dreading withdrawing.
Have had an excellent night, and am drinking lovely champagne with OH
(I've decided to ignore the illness and do it anyway, he tried so hard)
Hope you are all having a good night too,

WAKE UP, MUNCHKI!!!!! If you are asleep, you should be dotting the i's and crossing the t's now, so up you get!
Ooh, Jane, had your message, and that's fine, I'll get going on them asap.0 -
Dillidalli, the invites and announcement cards are beautiful, I've put a link on my Facebook page - got a sister who's just found out she's pregnant - I was dancing round the kitchen when she told me! - and a friend who's getting married so hopefully get some interest
I love the Speak 'n' Spell one! The shoes are a fab idea too, think they are brilliant
I need someone to kick some positivity into me today. OH is giving up smoking which means he's depressed and/or angry and I can't do anything right, or else he needs to whinge to me. I have to tiptoe around him and he keeps telling me it's my 'perception' of how he's speaking to me and he's not actually speaking to me nastily, then the next minute he'll be fine. And my confidence is flagging, which is annoying as I started the year off saying this was going to be my year, I'm going to do all these things, yet somehow I still feel like I'm not doing enough. Off to the jobcentre today, to find out what I can do about jobs. Scared I've made the wrong decision and they're going to tell me I have to take a job cleaning toilets and put the children in some random nursery (don't think we can get places for the little one in the one they used to go to).
My friend said I could ask to go on income support and do a course at college but since I've already got a degree I don't think they'll let me - I'd really like to do a proper course to learn how to make clothes etc, but think you have to do more vocational stuff?
Really sorry to be so negative on such a great thread. I started off really well and now I'm a bit lost - been doing bits of craft stuff with polymer clay but now need a pasta machine for it and we have to put all money this month into the overdraft so we can get a loan to pay off the big debt...aaarghhh....ignore me, I needed to have a rant I thinkwhinge whinge whinge, that's me at the minute. It helps to read this thread and see you all getting on so well!
