Just a word of warning though, I got one of these cards via the Sun newspaper and hadn't actually used it yet. I thought I would look back into it to start using it and found that all these months I haven't used the card I've actually been accumulating a negative balance. Apparently I owe them nearly £40.00, I can't cancel the card until the "debt" is cleared. Wondering if I never cleared that, and they're obviously adding £4.99 a month to my card, never had any correspondence from them stating I was "in arrears".... do I still have to pay them? After all, I've never used the blessed thing!

i thought they were 1 of the cards that dont add monthly fees for non use
    Bank Overdraft = £550/550
    Capital One CC = £650.12/721.25
    Halifax CC = £1951.43/2051.43

Aiming to be debt free by June 2010

You can only get an 02 card as an 02 customer. One of the things that appealed to be me what that there are no charges for using in the UK - unless you draw cash from a link machine which will charge a fee.

Not sure what the sun offer was but clearly not an 02 card
  • I'm sorry, I probably posted this on the wrong link... I am new to this. The card I have was a Sun card, not O2. It is called a Tuxedo card and the principle is the same. I got it through the Sun newspaper.
  • I have been unable to load money by using my Debit Card. I have had one since August 09 and have had some issues in the past but after a few days they were sorted. But now its different, when i called customer service they advised there is a block from using a Debit Card. I asked why have you blocked me for using my Debit Card and a manager advised we dont have to advise you that we have removed the facility. I complained whats the point of using the card if i cant load money online or someone else topping they advised go into a store and top up. What poor customer service.

Just to update this since I had forgotten... :)

The money had been put 'on hold' but never actually got taken. Putting just the £100 through worked fine.

While it was my fault for forgetting that the limits had been changed O2 should improve their system so it doesn't accept higher amounts to begin with. Some of the info on their site is also outdated and refers to the old limits.

I don't see the point in these cards, it's just the same a s a Visa Debit card. Your just giving money to o2 for using that and all you get is a text to say you used the card?!

I got mine for internet purchases where I'd rather not use my debit card.

The free txt alerts when you do a transaction are nice too. For my Barclays debit card I think it costs £2/mo!

The stand alone link ATM in a pub near me doesn't charge for making cash withdrawals with my O2 card but does charge £1.75 when I use my regular debit card.

Don't know if this is just a glitch with this particular machine but as the next nearest cash machine is a good walk away, my O2 card is convenient for that reason alone.
