need help to get TAG removed from line

I am having problems trying to get a tag removed from my line.
I closed my account with Bulldog/Pipex several months ago. I have now asked Sky for broadband, and there is a tag on the line. The tag belongs to cable & wireless (UK). Sky have asked BT 3 times to remove the tag and they say they cannot as there is an active account on the line. I have called, emailed and written via the postal system to Pipex, who have said time and time again, there is no active account, and no tag on the line. They also say the account was closed with Bulldog, and there is nothing they can do. I have told them that BT says the line is still active, but they deny this, saying there is no tag and no active account.
Do you know how I can get this TAG removed? I called BT openreach myself, and explained the situation and the guy basically told me to get lost, and I shouldn't have the number, and they don't talk to customers, only to the ISP companies. Even though I explained that three times they have failed to remove the tag. Still refused to help.
What can I do? Sky say there is nothing more they can do, Pipex are sticking to the same story, and BT won't help as the line is a Sky Talk line, and not a problem they can help with.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. Pipex/Tiscali tagged my line while I was with O2. It took weeks to sort out and Pipex denied everything for ages. Finally I got in touch with Ofcom and things started to get sorted. They contacted Pipex/Tiscali on my behalf and it got sorted within a couple of weeks. I never received any apology tho!0

thanks for this. I will give OFCOM a call first thing Monday. Sky have been very helpful, they even called Pipex themselves, and also got the same answer.0
