Hi Abbafan1972.
Have you tried your local vet to see if they offer their own plan? Our local vet does it covers all of the usual but also includes vaccinations and worming tablets too.
I have my cat on their plan which costs me £10 a month and I don't have to pay a consultatin fee or excess.
Wow, thats amazing.
My old vets did it so if you were with PetPlan you didn't have to pay up front except the excess.
My new vets doesn't even do this, but he's nicer & far cheaper.
I don't have insurance I have thought about it, but not sure its "value for money" V "reasonable risk".0 -

It probably isn't but TBH I think the same thing about buildings insurance - really what is the chance that your house will burn to the ground or be completely flooded out like you see on the TV? To me the point of pet insurance is that I can afford all the small expenses, even a one off major operation. What I couldn't afford is an ongoing condition, my income is tiny and my savings would not last forever. Sadly diabetes, cancer and kidney problems are not that rare in cats.

But the firms do make a profit, so MOST people pay in more than they claim back.
If you can afford to cover a few larger bills then its probably bad value, if you can't then its good peace of mind.0 -

Not true of most kinds of insurance. At the moment companies are paying out more than they are bringing in. They keep afloat by investing in the stock market though (and raising prices later) not through the insurance business
