Best pet insurance

We have been to the RSPCA today and reserved a gorgeous cat to rehome.
I was thinking about pet insurance this time around. I still have a cat who is 15 years so it's too late for her. Which is the best company to go for and what is usually covered, does it cover vaccinations etc. This cat is a year old and has been neutered and is chipped.
The cat won't be with us for a bit yet as we need to have a home visit first, but didn't want to leave everything till the last minute.
Thanks in advance.

Congratulations! :j There is a sticky on pet insurance on the main Pets board, don't read the whole thing just the last few pages. Insurance does not cover vaccinations, flea and wormer, and not all dental care. AXA are probably the best according to several cat forums, they are a 'for life' policy (you can claim for the same condition year after year), usually slightly cheaper than PetPlan and you don't end up with a percentage excess when the cat gets older.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

congrats.
AXA in my opinion are the best. And it isn;t too late for your old cat - i insured a 14 year old that I adopted with AXA last year.0 -
Whatever you do don't go through a broker eg. sainsburys etc. They use an insurance company, but if you go direct to the insurance company, you'll cut pounds off your prenium. Found this out to my cost btw!TWBM (hopefully!) 2010 Any break away.

And avoid any company with a connection to E and L insurance!0

i am doing all these insurance companies at present, once you get your head around the terminology it gets easier. the life cover is the way to go its only a couple of pounds difference in the premiums and could save hundreds.
animal friends insurance and lv= are my leaders so far.0 -

Have you read any of the pet insurance sticky? I don't *think* either of these are a true 'for life' policy.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I'm with Axa. My claim arrived with them on 09-Feb10, and when I rang today - initially about something else - they told me that the claim has been accepted and a cheque is being processed at the moment.
The policies I have - for two dogs - cover vets' fees up to £7,000 per policy year, which renews every year. I just pay an excess of £50 per condition per policy year.
My dogs are both 14 this year, and yes, the premiums may be high, but they are in generally a very good condition for their age; I bought the insurance in case of any really serious illnesses or accidents, as I would never forgive myself if something happened and the only reason they were PTS was because I had no cover and no savings.0 -
Hi Abbafan1972.
Have you tried your local vet to see if they offer their own plan? Our local vet does it covers all of the usual but also includes vaccinations and worming tablets too.
I have my cat on their plan which costs me £10 a month and I don't have to pay a consultatin fee or excess.0 -
I am with Petguard and have been for three years, never had any problems with them at all and in that time have had three claims - one very large.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0
