Why is it then that companies insist on using a courier service when Royal Mail would be happy to make the same delivery without any additional surcharge? The N.I. surcharge that most online companies charge puts me off buying from them. Amazon for instance uses Royal Mail and I have received large boxes from them without any problem.

Citylink does have a surcharge to NI. If it is over water then they charge extra. My collegue at work accidently sent a citylink courier to NI and it cost us £30.

Sorry my fault for not looking at the fine prints, CityLink do charge a £15 surchage for sea crossing.

Why dont the companies offer Royal Mail as an option?
  • We can only offer Royal Mail as a delivery service if the total weight of the package being sent is under 2Kg. Unfortunately for the above product once packaging is factored in, this is not possible hence we have no alternative but to send via courier. As the previous poster pointed out - CityLink charge approx £30 to ship to NI so in fact we are subsidizing deliveries to this region.

todays daft deal is IM7 speaker set for the ipod ( normally £155 ) for £79.99 about 15 left as of now !!!! when there gone i'll post the next one on here before we put it on the site ( trying to make up for past mistakes )

Im sure you will take advantage of free advertising on MSE.!!!!!!!

As you can see, I am still P***ed off at the way Think4 treated me when they basically told me to go take a running jump with my order. The way they treated me when I phoned is extremely bad way to deal with customers, especially when it was them that messed up.
I am glad other people got a good deal from my initial posting, its just really annoying that i got nothing due my order canceeation by think4.

Thanks for the information. Is there a reason why parcels heavier than 2kg cannot be sent via Royal Mail, as they can deliver standard parcels upto 20kg. I also now see that anything I add to the basket like a usb cable (definitely less than 2kg) the P&P costs £19.99 whereas earlier it used to be £4.99.

A 10kg standard parcel by Royal Mail is priced at £10.70 which is much cheaper than using CityLink so why use them. I have used Amazon over the years and they send big heavy boxes using Royal Mail and I never had a problem with that.

Anyway apart from my nagging about the postage costs I must say that Think4 is offering excellent value bluetooth and other products in its clearence corner :T

Can not see any bluetooth items in the clearence section!!!!!!!!
  • All bluetooth items in clearance corner sold out now I'm afraid. Regarding Royal Mail, we can only send stuff out via Special Delivery as too many things go missing via standard service. Above 2Kg, its cheaper for us to use CityLink hence the current shipping policy.

If anyone can give me examples of cables that cost £19.99 for delivery I'll get our techies to look into it. Sounds like a glitch in the coding as these should be charged at either £2.99 or £4.99 depending on weight.

Well it might be cheaper to use CityLink if no sea crossing is involved but with the surcharge, postage becomes unaffordably expensive. Special Delivery with Royal Mail for Northern Ireland customers should still be cheaper by £1.50

I have added a "Belkin PRO Series - USB cable - 4 PIN USB Type A (M)" to my basket. The item costs 0.99 but the postage is coming at 19.99, not exactly a good deal. My postcode starts with BT.
  • We're looking into sorting out the delivery charges for clearance corner items. By the end of next week there should be a static charge of £4.99 irrespective of qty or delivery destination.
