The change is significant, more so if the OP tries to make a claim on an N1 stating "not of merchantable quality", it would get thrown out as this isn't what the legislation now states. This would then cost the OP the listing fee (£25+) to discover that CC Judges can't 'interpret' terminology.
If they get it correct at first attempt, they will save money / time and are more likely to win.
Absolute rubbish, no judge in the SCC is going to do that, (and if it was that crucial, then the SCC staff would pick it up on presentation of the forms), SCC's are designed for the ordinary person without need for legal representation, the difference?,(especially for this forum), is irrelevant!
Doesn't really matter, if the product is faulty etc, then it is, "not fit for purpose" or of merchantable/satisfactory quality!
http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/merchantable
Merchantable
An item is deemed merchantable if it is reasonably fit for the ordinary purposes for which such products are manufactured and sold.
Suitable for buying and selling; marketable.
: of commercially acceptable quality : salable

Satisfactory
Giving satisfaction sufficient to meet a demand or requirement; adequate.
Go on split the hairs in respect of this forum!
This particular post had a satisfactory outcome for the OP, then you come along and want an argument!!
