induction hob.

Does anyone else have an induction hob from Ideal World.
Single plate.

Not sure if mine is faulty or not.

If i cook on the 80 setting, everything boils away, its far too hot and burns everything, dropping it down (the next one down ) is 60 and everything just stops, it doesnt even simmer. Should there be any inbetwen these two. 70 would probably be ideal but as it is its pretty unusable as i have to stand there the whole time turning it up and down throughout the whole cooking time.

Ideal world say they will take it back (i have had it 3 weeks) and tried persevering with it but its driving me mad.
They say they will repair or replace, repair will be fine if it makes it better
but i wondered if anyone else knows if there should be a temperature inbetween 60 and 80.
Many thanks for any help.

I had one, i had this problem too, either burned or did not cook properly, i think they are mostly built for quick boil once soups or tins of beans then simmer the rest on the lower temps, no good for real cooking of food.
    Owed out = lots.

We have a De Diertich induction hob, it has numbers 1-9 and is as controllable as a gas hob, sounds like yours is faulty, I would return for a refund as being "not of merchantable quality" and "not fit for purpose" under SoGA.

Its not what they show you on the blumming telly. And your right about the quick boil and eat, I wish these people were more truthful. Mind, i suppose if they were they wouldnt sell so much
    Thanks for your input.

    Thanks derrick.
This is a single plate one with temperatures 30, 60, 80 degrees and going right up to 1300. So nowhere near the control of one like yours ie 1 to 9
which would have done just what i wanted it for.
As it is they are coming to pick it up on Wednesday and i will fight for a refund unless they can show me that a replacement would have better control issues.

    Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a bit of a different animal, (although I would have thought that they would be of a similar basis), ours is a full 4 place set in hob.

Sounds like you are getting a result.

Well, when they said they would pick it they said they would repair or replace,
fine if they can repair/replace so i can cook with it properly,
other than that i will go down the road of not fit for the purpose i think

Just an update - i had no correspondence from Ideal world since they picked the hob up.

I got my CC bill on Monday and found that they had refunded me.
I sent them an email, no answer, i sent them another email saying that although i had got my purchase price back they had kept my £5.99 p&P, nice work if you can get it.
Anyway, they rang me tonight and said that the hob was indeed faulty and they acknowledge my email re the p&p and will refund this as well. i should blmming well think so.
It makes me wonder how much they make on this P&P lark if no one follows it up.

Anyway, Im satisfied at the outcome and think I;ll go for a proper hob from the shop in town.

The SOGA was amended (I can't remember exactly when, not my area of Law!), however the phrase is not 'not of merchantable quality' rather the more simple 'not of satisfactory quality'.

Same difference, just splitting hairs, the majority, (if not all), on this forum are aware of what is being posted, and for the posts the meaning are more or less the same, and I doubt any CC judge would make comment on a layman's terminology such as this.

The Act was changed to make it easier to understand.

The change is significant, more so if the OP tries to make a claim on an N1 stating "not of merchantable quality", it would get thrown out as this isn't what the legislation now states. This would then cost the OP the listing fee (£25+) to discover that CC Judges can't 'interpret' terminology.

If they get it correct at first attempt, they will save money / time and are more likely to win.
