joint water meters

Options
Has anybody had similair problems? just found out recently that for ten years we have been paying water for another house in our cul de sac. (the water goes through our meter and then through one at this persons house) although its early days I have a suspicion that united utilities may try and deflect responsibility. the meter was put in before we moved to the property so this was news to us. we have had issues over the past with united utilities tryng to find our meter etc etc and they shrugged their shoulders and never supplied an answer. i would appreciate any advice before i have a meeting with one of their staff.

Very unlikely but it is possible its down as a network meter where they take off the neighbours consumption off your bill.

    Is you bill high ?
  • thanks Deanos.
yes the average monthly payment recently is £65 per month. untill last june there was only 2 of us in the house.we have never had a water meter before so we had nothing to compare it too. re shared meter, there is no doubt that some shoddy work has been done. every house which are all detached supposed to have individual meters. the situation only came to light with the freeze etc. in fairness to the united utilities worker who came out he sussed the problem and descrepencies in a very short time.
