Argos Mastercard Reward

Options
I have an Argos Matercard since August / September last year after reading about it on this site, I have spent around £8000 to date and am meant to receive Argos vouchers at 1% of purchases, to date I have received 1 £20 voucher which I received on 20th November.

I needed to activate this card before use, I rang on 27th November and was told by the person at the activation centre that they could not recognise the number and I needed to ring back when a supervisor was available. I then rang on at least another three occasions before finally getting the card activated around mid - december. When it was activated I was then told to wait upto 48 hours before using it. I was doing my Xmas shopping that weekend and had other Argos vouchers that I have collected from other rewards schemes so I used these but as the Argos one was not yet active I saved it for future use.

Yesterday I went to an Argos store and presented my £20 reward card to redeem , it gave the message "Not enough points available" which I thought strange.

I rang the number that you ring to activate the card and was told that it had already been redeemed on 6th February. I told them that this was impossible as it had been in my wallet all of the time, on checking further I was told that it had actually expired as it is only valid from date of issue rather than date of activation and it had been issued on 6th November even though I only received it on 20th November, and there was no issue or expiry date on the card. The woman agreed that this was not my fault and with all the problems I had I should ring Argos Mastercard and they should reactivate it for me.

I rang and a person called Elya who was quite rude told me that all their reward cards have a 12 month life, I explained that it clearly states 3 months on the card and once more explained all of my problems, her response was "Well it has expired and we have no system of reactivating or reimbursing so you have lost it" I asked who i could complain too and she said that there was no facility for complaining about this. I then asked what about the rest of my money back vouchers I should have anothe £60 due from the £6000 spent, she said that there is no way of checking this and I just need to wait to see when I receive them.

I would like to hear anyones advice if I should complain about this and who I should complain to, could I refer this to the ombudsman?

I find it disgusting that they advertise this perk but have no way of managing it or informing you what to do if things go wrong. I feel robbed of my £20
