Yes that's true, but with how many other builders do you know that much more?:D
One thing: self build for me is out!

    Now back to the question:eek:;)
  • The hd will be one of the big oem such as western digital, hitatchi and samsung.

You won't get much cheaper than that. If you want to do photo-editing it might be worthwhile adding a decent graphics card. A 23" hd monitor retails about £200 so your getting that system for £368 (remember quidco / tcb etc also).

You won't get pre-built for cheaper but maybe be able to find a deal in places like staples, pc world etc.

Standard monitor is 21.5" and upgrade to 23" is only £10!!!
As I said editing will be 10-20% max. As I was managing with a 80GB 2GHz machine is the integrated graphics going to be a real problem?

If I did decide to pay more would it be better spemt on a support upgrade from the standard 1 year RTB or a discrete graphics card?

Judging by many other Dell posts you may have to wait a long time for delivery.

I looked at buying a Dell and then when I was selecting what I wanted and did not want there was no option to remove Norton anti virus and microsoft works.

These programs were not "free" but were included in the price and there was no way of removing them.

It lost Dell a £1000 sale as I bought it elsewhere ;)

Yes a bit annoying, but no way of removing,,,,do you mean that; was it not possible to uninstall them?

There are programs out there called Dell 'de-crapifier' which do that.
    Here's an example:-http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/08/22/remove-junk-and-unwanted-software-from-pc-with-pc-de-crapifier/
