Hi.I was thinking of getting a nokia E63.The only bad things i noticed was it was only 3g as opposed to hsdpa and only 2mp camera. They are doing good deals on Virgin just now for them. Can anyone tell me if the 3g internet is fast enough.I currently have Samsung Tocco lite which is good phone but internet speed is shocking!.

Thanks Neil

HSDPA has a significant advantage over 3G only if you are regularly loading large web pages or downloading things over the mobile network connection. For checking e-mail plain 3G is fine. The connection will be faster than your Tocco Lite but not as fast as the more expensive phones with HSDPA.

    For comparison:
HSDPA, in theory, gives 1.8Mbps or more.
    3G is up to 384Kbps (that's 0.3Mbps)
The Tocco Lite has an EDGE connection which allows data rates up to 180Kbps (0.16Mbps).

Most networks can't deliver more than 1-2Mbps with HSDPA in practice anyway. You won't hit the theoretical maximum 3G speed either, however it will fall short by less.

On the handset itself, I think the E63 is a pretty good phone for the money, in my personal opinion (caveat: I don't care about a phone's camera).
  • I love my e63. Ok its my 1st smart phone so its a 1st love . Mine is on 3 . The only down side is syncing with ovi suite that might be down to vista Web works fine both on wifi and via phone. Setting up gmail 20 seconds. nice apps and the voice software for driving works even with my Bristol accent.
Camera's not great by modern standards but does the job well enough.
