the other good thing about charity shops is that you can haggle
 I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Really? I didnt think you could haggle the price even lower? Id feel cheeky doing that, I never do it at car boots. My Nan and grandad ALWAYS haggle with people and get things cheap. Im too young I think though to haggletankgirl1 wrote:the other good thing about charity shops is that you can haggle

I dont mind doing it on holiday with the dodgy market sellers0 -
I do admire those people who have the courage to haggle successfully, especially when dealing with 'fat cat' companies who make £millions in profit; but surely, if you're haggling in a charity shop, it's the beneficiaries of that charity who miss out?
I occasionally help out in a local charity shop, and the manager gets incensed when people try to haggle down what he sees is an already bargain price - his opinion is that it takes food out of the mouths of the starving!0 -
Agree with Bats, i would never have the nerve to haggle in a Charity shop. To me it would seem quite mean. It would be different if it was a personal second hand shop but i couldnt do it to a charityA banker is someone who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining, and who asks for it back when it start to rain.0

Us people who work in the charity shops absolutely hate people who haggle prices from our view it is cheap in the first place.
We always refuse to offer any discount or lower the prices some of our managers are known for chucking people out of their shops if the refuse toi pay the price on the label.
Just the same as the people who think they can steal from us because it didn't cost us anything in the first place!!! :mad:0 -
totally agree, you wouldn't haggle in a normal shop, so why do to a charity? Especially when the proceeds (hopefully) go where they're needed.0
-
Because some people like to get things cheaper than they already are. Thinking of themselves rather than where the money will be going and who it is helping.0

Then of course you get people who steal from charity shops. Hopefully Karma will catch up with them0

People steal from Charity shops? What?? I cant believe people would do that.0
