My best buy was a new (still with tags) Ralph Lauren handbag for £7, that I later sold to my sister for £20!

Fair play. Keep 'em coming, tempting me more and more to go in now.. Bargains to be had and money to be made.

Redditch is my home town and I know there are only about 5 charity shops there which are very small. Are you embarrassed incase you bump into someone you know when coming out the shop or is it a general embarrassment? You could tell anyone you bump into that you scour these shops for bargains to resell in eBay.

Have you tried Bromsgrove, Rubery, Northfield charity shops? Harborne tends to have more designer items I find though.

I know of a lady that bought a hardbook for 20p and sold it on ebay - for over £200!!!!!!!
I go to my local 2 once a week if i can for kids clothes mainly. I still rant about the bin bag full of next girls clothes that i got while expecting my girl for £5 - didnt need any more clothes for 6 months!

Im in early 20's, felt a bit funny at first, thought charity shops were for the older generation. I was so wrong! Get down there!

I buy books in charity shops every week and have never felt embarrassed. There are about 20 charity shops in Cardiff that I frequent at different stages depending on what area I'm doing my shopping in.

There's no need to feel embarrassed - many people do not shop in charity shops because they are dead broke and have to resort to wearing 2nd hand goods - they shop there because a bargain is a good thing, you support the charity and you can often find goods that you couldn't find new! Vintage is a fashion too!

I don't believe in paying £6.50 a book - I pay between 20p to £1 depending on the book and it's recycling, giving the shop money and saving me a packet. I'd be quite happy to bump into someone I know in a charity shop - there's really no need to feel ashamed of being thrifty and supporting charities!

Forgot to mention I'm 23 and have been going to them since I was 16 - even worked part time in one as a teenager.

I once bought an old bible dated 1746 and an encyclopedia with 25 books in it, together they cost £8 way back in 1986.

I sold the bible for £40 at a car boot sale and the encyclopedia has pride of place in my living room.

:rotfl: LOL, not nice of me I know, but I nearly spat my coffee when I read this - I thought I was the only one to think this!!!

I regularly buy books from charity shops and then re-donate them afterwards, but if one is old it does often cross my mind that someone might have died whilst reading it!

I love having a good look through the charity shops, I've come home with some amazing designer label bargains over the last few weeks!!

When my little one was younger used to get loads of his stuff from them for him, wear, wash, wear, grow out of and pass on!!

Clothes are a disposable commodity, whats the point of paying £50+ on an item, only for it to end up in the bin......or a charity shop ;)
