No fun if it is in a workshop running up a huge bill tho'.
Otherwise your OP becomes redundant.:)0 -

Your white goods may well be worth a gamble especially if you buy certain makes eg Meile, it may well have it's own 5 or 10 year cover anyway.
The OP's car is a different ball game, it's likely to be very good (though apparently couldn't manage that) till the short warranty runs out, and the costs of this new overrated gearbox will be staggering when it gives up, or indeed when the balance shaft chain snaps if it's an early 2.0Diesel.
As for Kia's being dross, has the OP had a look underneath a modern Kia...Ceed for example, where the important bits are?
nope there to slow, i wouldnt be interested in anything over 6.0 sec 0-60, as for the bits under the bonnet thats what garages are for
and DSG is not overrated its bloody fantastic, launch control, full power gear changes, gear changing on fast corners without upsetting the cars balance, love it :j (but its not blown up yet)
Im going to take the extended warranty thou just for peace of mind on the gear box as it does take a hammering

If you feel confident a warranty will pay out if and when, if you feel £650 is good value and it gives you peace of mind.... that is your choice
Driven audis for years and in my experience they are reliable. If I had this carseveral faults fixed over the first 3 years including 2 new ECUs in the first 6 months
I would not be looking for a warranty, I would be looking for my next car.:p"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Its the extension of the original main dealer warranty so it will cover everything that's covered since it was new.
had an S4 and an RS4 from new, the S4 had several faults fixed on it over 2 years and eventually needed new turbos, the RS4 I rejected after it spent 8 months of its 12 month life in the dealership in bits with them unable to fix a brake imbalance that left the offside brake roasting the pads (literally) and the nearside pads 300 degrees cooler ...
A friends M5 fried the ECU 100 yards down the road from delivery
The new S4 is on the list as its possible replacement for next year.0 -
No one knows their cars better than manufactuers who make them.
When they offer 3-yr warranty, they know things may go wrong after 3 years. And they will make money from repair.
On other hand, one who offers 7-yr warranty, they know if their cars go wrong ater 3-yr, they'll be losing money (rather than making it).
That says all.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -

Somehow i don't take the Koreans for idiots...if they're prepared to put a 7 year warranty on their cars you can bet there's every chance the cars will make 7 years without a claim.
When the alleged premium makes start doing the same and show faith in their own product i'll eat my hat, shan't hold me breath while waiting mind, if people are still happy to buy expensive unreliable premium badged cars they'll continue to make 'em unreliable, no reason to improve when you have a captive market.
What a pity we won't see Hyundai's flagship Genesis here, by all accounts a worthy competitor for proper Lexus' (300 and above) and the like.0 -
I doubt most warranties will go beyond 3 years - after all most cars are built for the fleet market first of all who keep them for 6 months to 3 years - the manufacturer doesn't need to care what happens to them after that.0

"Extended warranty, how can I lose?"I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling0

But what happens when the fleet car market cotton on to the 7 year warranty? and buy them in large numbers, then the likes of Ford, GM and VW etc. will have to get their act together at long last.0
