The O2 tariffs that work on postcodes (e.g. home100, home250 and I assume the weekend offer) can cover quite a wide area depending on the 'cell' you are in. From my home location you can go up to a mile in one direction and half a mile in another direction and still be within the same postcode so far as O2 is concerned!
From the front of your house you might connect to one base station and from the back another so both have to be mapped against your postcode for billing purposes. Coverage from a given site doesn't stop in the middle of the road on the white line unless by chance! So the area covered by an O2 'postcode' can be quite wide and even have gaps in it.
So if you are lucky both you and your daughter could be covered at each others houses even though you have different postcodes registered with O2.

Had you topped up by £10 the month before, and did you get a text back from O2 confirming you had the offer.

"Eligible customers who opt in to O2 Long Weekends during the Promotional Period will be entitled to up to 500 minutes/month of free calls from their nominated home postcode to UK standard landlines (starting 01 or 02) and O2 mobiles (excluding video calls) every Saturday, Sunday and Monday for up to 2 months from the date that they receive a confirmation text message from O2 subject to a minimum top up of £10 in the month prior to the date of opt in."

It worked ok for me this morning. No money was taken, but no whisper either.

and when i ask o2 how to obtain a running balance on my 'long weekend' they told me to text 'balance' to 20202, but i then only got my 'textanytime' balance (which they had already said '...you are not registered, and must register for...',) was given, so now at least i got 300 free texts, so i texted friends instead of ringing them..but its the principle (and this weekend is half over!)

update, today (sunday 6 august) tried again and got charged 4 connection, then got an email from o2 yet again saying that,

'...I am sorry but your nominated/home postcode
was not added to your account. This is the
reason you have not received your Long Weekend minutes.
I have forwarded your details to the relevant
department and your postcode will be added to your
account within 24 to 48 hours.....'

please note that this means that i cant use them again until the following saturday!

Even though i have a text from o2 dated friday 4th august saying that my postcode is now active for 'long weekend'

    doh!

Yes I top up £10 everytime my top up date is due. I'm not due another top up until the middle of august now. I topped up in July. My calls 50 bolt on went on ok and 300 free txt messgaes went on ok. I always check my balances as soon as my top up has been accepted. So, I haven't a clue whay I got charged

Oh forgot to mention, I did get a txt from O2 confirming I had received the weekend offer... no offer yet tho'

I made a call on Sunday from my postcode and was charged 50p. I mailed O2 to query this and here is the reply:-

Your call was connected through a transmitter, which is located outside of your nominated postcode.

We are not able to guarantee whether you will always be able to connect to the transmitter nearest to your postcode, as this is dependent on the mobile usage of other users in your area. If your nearest transmitter is congested, your call will then connect via the next nearest transmitter.

As this may not be in your nominated postcode, you will be charged for the call.

So much for the "free" weekend calls.
