Thanks  - was ranting at the time lol...... as I say, never seen or used one before but know they do two differing cards; one is restricted and one is not. :D

Can you advise what colour you get if you get the current plus without full card then? ie. some current account customers get offered the basic (full auth) card and not the old servicecard type....

Well its very odd because at present just because some customers have a current plus or advantage gold account. It does not necessarily mean you'll get an off line visa debit with CG, you could just end up with a full auth visa debit previously you would have got a solo :D

Can confirm that non CGC I have received for the Current plus acct is the blue one. Not jumping the gun, but does anyone know how you go about upgrading it to the purple one? Obviously we can't yet as the account has only just been opened, but will be handy to know for the future?
  • Mm - I've just got one (NatWest having eventually granted my account application after HSBC did) - I'm not sure why my nice new blue card isn't a cheque guarantee card? I've got a chequebook, and experience of the CGC being needed with cheques - so (1) why have they opted to give a non-CG card when they've given me a chequebook, and never said anything of cheque guarentee to me? and (2) how am I supposed to pay for things by cheque w/o a CGC?

I got a chequebook too, guess it is just for sending through the post to pay for things where you wouldn't have option to provide CGC?

oh and norwich and peterborough do a basic account, you get a cashcard, possibly a visa debit, a cheque book but not a cheque guareented card or OD.

internet and phone banking available, they do have branches in east anglia type region i think. very sympathetic to personal circumstances, they against all the odds gave me a full gold account with an OD and cheque guareented card lol

I have the N&P Basic Gold Account - very pleased with it so far! Visa Debit Card, Cheque Book (which was a huge plus for me - for school trips, music lessons etc etc!) internet banking is ok, telephone banking is excellent - only downside is no faster payments - but I am ok with that!! I guess you can't have everything - and this is the only basic account I have found that provides a cheque book....
.... if you don't like what I say, then don't listen....
