Eon Fix online v6 discount

Eon Fix Online tariff shows up as the cheapest supplier for me on a few comparison websites.
I am a bit concerned about switching to Eon because on their website it states that the discount is not payable on final bills. I assume this means that if I left Eon I would not get the 25% discount on my bill. This could mean paying an extra few hundred pounds on leaving if my bill was a large one.
Do all suppliers do this or is it just Eon or just this tariff?
I cant find anymention of no discount on the British Gas or EDF websites.
Anyone know more about this?
Cheers!

It's just E-on.0

Wow. That was a quick reply, Kim! Thanks.
I bet a lot of poeple switching don't realise that and it can be quite a costly oversight.0 -
Hi earthlover,
Just to confirm that no discount is given on final bills; as you point out, this is detailed in the T&C's.
If you are thinking of changing supplier in the future, it’s wise to time your transfer so it completes shortly after a bill is produced, therefore minimising the amount of the final bill.

Don't you think that you are therefore misrepresenting your true figures ?
In my opinion, any comparative tool should remove the discount on 25% of the annual and make the presumption that people move supplier once each year.
Thus, on a £1200 annual bill, which comes with a 25% discount, the true figure should not be £1200-25%=£900 but rather (£1200/4*3)-25%+£1200/4=675+300=£975.
Perhaps there should be a rule to make comparisons based only on true 12 month prices, not false advertising.0 -

Hi property.advert,
I don't know the figures but I have a feeling that a vast number of people don't change supplier at least once a year. I'd be interested to know the actual numbers though.
Maybe a 12 month only comparison tool would be a useful option to have available, but this would be down to the independent comparison websites to set up.

Bad idea. Why should scum (like me) who faff around switching regularly not have to look after their own backs and do their own sums?
I agree that all the codicils and discounts and conditions should be more clearly displayed, though.0 -

Brian
Historically Brian you would be correct and as it takes weeks to change nowadays, there is some inertia.
However, all the advertising talks about 12 month, direct debits are set to work over 12 months, comparisons are based on 12 months, so it seems totally logical that total figures for 12 months should be the ones used, not some figures which are only justified if the contract runs on for longer than 12 months, as it does with your company.
I think you are misleading but I am not saying that others are being truthful. The comparison sites should be more transparent as they ignore exit fees but include discounts, even outside of 12 months.
However, they are not about to bite the hand that feeds them are they ?0 -

I think you should go back to bed as your posts today are filled with vitriolic abuse.0 -

Eh? Nothing wrong in this thread. Perfectly sensible post. Care to point out what the problem is?0 -

Its not just about those who have time and inclination to switch regularly. Its also about helping those who don't, and those who aren't familiar with using comparison sites, and are trying to make sense of the figures. I've been looking for a few days and have found it is actually a lot more complicated than it looks when the comparison list comes up at first. I only found out about the Eon loss of discount on the last bill because I went on their website and happened to notice a sentence stating that.
I wonder how many people even now are with Eon and are totally unaware that they are not entitled to the final bill discount.0
