    Mortgage-free Glee!
Have had two consecutive fixed ISAs with Loyds now. Too early to decide what to do this year I think.

Wierd how they offer different things to different people. Have you had ISAs with LTSB for longer than current one 3.2% (for £30,000+) that is about to end for me? Maybe they look at indivudual's ISA history. I have transferred severl times, from Abbey in 2008 to YBS then split away from there in 2009 between LTSB and Halifax.

Weird it is! Last year they offered some follow on rates a lot higher than to others. I ended up being offered 3.2% on £36K - but others I know were offered higher. There seemed no rhyme or reason as to the basis of their discrimination. It appears the same could be happening again this year. I have only been offered the 3.1% variable rate (with 1 year 2.1% bonus). It looks like others may have been offered 1 year fixed or 2 year fixed. Commercial reasons again I suppose, but Lloyds are again treating me like a 2nd rate saver. Thinking hard now whether I should move my money or not
  • I had a phone call today from LTSB as they would like to 'review' my ISA. Having a chat tommorrow and will see what they offer. My 20K @ 3% matures on 7 April so I think going variable (if its at least 3% to start with the 1 year bonus) is the best choice as there are hints that BofE may raise interest rates come the autumn. Best FR ISAs are 3% anyway. Nearly ready saving the new £5,100 cash limit come April 6th.
I would normally have a cup of tea

I had one of these 'invitations' a few weeks ago, it was obviously simply a 'sales opportunity' to attempt to sell one of their S&S ISAs to those with substantial Cash ISA funds.

    I declined their invitation.

I have not received a letter nor a telephone call. :( I will give it another couple of weeks and then pop in to see what their rates are. I am unsure if to fix for a year or have a variable rate, probably go for the variable as rates may rise later in the year.

  • If I decide I want to fix elsewhere, I suppose that means waiting until after maturity date of 31 March, at which time it either defaults to a next to nothing account, or if I tell them, the 3.1% variable. Or can one transfer out of a fixed interest ISA before maturity - umm probably not

Think transfer to 3.1% LTSB variable then out to fix.

It depends on the fixed rate ISA's Ts & Cs

Some permit easy access, e.g. Halifax offered a 3% fixed rate last year, which offered penalty-free easy access and First Direct are offering a similar one at 2.75% currently, while M&S are currently offering a 3-year FRISA at 4% which permits early access at the cost of £100.

I don't think they give you a choice. I was only offered the 3.1% variable rate; others only offered the 1 year and 2 year fix. No idea on the basis of their discrimination. They did the same last year.

Don't blame you. When will they realise that by trying to be too smart, they will lose customers?
