Debate House Prices

A poster on another thread suggested this for a thread and so I thought I'd start.

So, why do you use this forum?

I use it from a combination of enjoying the community here, habit, boredom (I've been woefully underemployed), learning new things, trying to educate others and a general interest in economics.

    I like it here.

I like the people here and, in general, the debates are great. They flow well and people respect each others views in general.

It is a nice place to be.

  • We've been going through the process of buying and selling property in the past three months or so. When the second house is sold we'll have a lump sum to invest. It's helpful to scan discussion boards in order to pick up any bits and pieces of info that might be relevant to our situation. There's always someone that's thought of something that you haven't!

so what does that make someone that watches comedies based around families and finds those funny?

Someone who enjoys watching comedies? Sorry Chuckster, but I'm not really seeing the analogy here.

I like it as it's not too specific. General money stuff and chit chat!! How many sit there at home with a pint (or babycham!) as though its a pub discussion?

I occasionally drop the odd bizarre opinion when things seem too tame and we need to shake it up a bit!!

I use it as I have found TV, radio, even the BBC news website increasingly poor in journalistic content.

Precising complex subjects into 200 word articles. Just doesn't work. It misinforms. Seems more about a headline than the real issues. Let alone offering a solution.

Debating is enjoyable. Providing its done in a grown up manner. As somebody else commented. Its like walking into your local. More importantly you get a feel for whats happening elsewhere. Very easy to assume that the grass is greener and vice a versa.

  • I just like arguing.

And house prices used to be a nice emotive subject to argue about.:money:

Of course, now that the crash is over, I'm finding more people bite about other things....... like all the good things mass immigration will do for Britain over the next few decades.;)
