My contracts coming to and end, but I don't want to upgrade it. It'd be cheaper to buy a new phone outright.
I would like a phone running android. But what are the options. I'm tempted by the htc hero, but I've heard they're a bit fiddly/delicate. The htc magic seems to be identical but cheaper. What other options are out there?
Cheers

The only Google phone is the Nexus One (made by HTC) here http://www.google.com/phone
I think it's about to be made available on contract on Vodafone.0 -
Hi!
My old contract was coming to an end and Orange offered the same for another 18 months with a Hero and a Orange mobile broadband dongle with 500Mb every month for the same price.
I was so surprised I took it, although I now wonder if I could have beaten them down more...
I pay £20 for 300 mins, 100 texts, 250Mb internet now plus the dongle / mobile internet package. I've had the Hero a week and think it's wonderful.
Regards

The Nexus one is the only one 'made' by google, plenty running android though.
OP: Have a look at http://androidphone.org.uk/0 -
Android is the operating system, not the phone... but Nexus One isn't the only one Google put their name too, you're forgetting the original Android phone, the G1 (aka. HTC Dream).
Back to the question, the HTC Hero is a good handset, it has a better camera than the Magic and will be getting Android 2.x pretty soon... as far as I know, the Magic isn't0
