Tesco iPhone Users
Thinking about going onto the 12 month £20 contract with Tesco on the iPhone.
Looking for any comments from people currently on this contract regarding quality of reception, as the Vodafone rep just tried to convince me that the reception on o2's network, wouldn't be anywhere near as good as 'actual' o2 network users....

Yeh, he was a right 'know it all'
I joked by saying "What, do o2 turn the signal down a bit for Tesco handsets?!"
Thinking of going for the £222 8gb 3G handset on the 12 month contract anyway, so just checking people are happy with the iphone on 'Tesco' network...October Comp Wins -Stella Artois Challice (FB)0 -
I know its a bit more but is it not worth considering the 3GS supposed to be a lot quicker on web use
That's the one i'm considering but it is a lump of money to lay out0 -

.
Isn't that pretty much what they do? By giving different levels of priority one set of users can enjoy a more reliable signal than others. I know Orange used to give there contract customers priority over pay as go during peak times.
How much of a difference it makes to the average user is debatable though.0 -

I've never used a 3GS but when I had a 3G I never thought it was particularly slow....0 -

I have both. There are speed improvements in the 3GS, but these are associated with processor speed and memory, ie how fast apps launch etc. Web pages in theory are rendered a little faster, but in practice this makes virtually no difference.0 -
I am using husbands new 3GS iphone at the moment and am so impressed I must have one myself. Ive just had surgery, so Im ill in bed, he gave it to me to keep me occupied and Im loving the itunes in particular, but just love the way it works.
He got his on vodaphone, £35 per month, Im on 02 atm and due an upgrade, I m only on a low tariff, and pay £20 per month at the moment. When I went through the 02 upgrade online the best they could do was give me a free iphone on the £60 per month contract which I thought was too much. I am unable to pay an upfront cost at the moment, so I looked around. I found this site recommended Tesco, but there was an upfront cost involved.

A lot of people upgrading on o2 seem to be getting a better deal by asking for a refurbished iphone 3GS (Like new condition). Usually a FREE iphone on either a £30 or £35 contract (probably depending on how high valued a customer you are).
The other option is to go for the £222 8bg Iphone 3G (the last generation version) on the 12 month Tesco contract....good thing about that is that after 12 months you can either get it unlocked and put a different providers sim in it, or sell the phone on and probably get at least half your initial outlay back :TOctober Comp Wins -Stella Artois Challice (FB)0
