Orange - new phone, terrible reception

Just wondering if you can offer any advice/ guidance. My partner and I recently upgraded our phones for two iphones with orange. I have had problems with the signal on my last orange phone but was assured by the guy in the shop that the signal wouldn't be a problem with the iphone as they have a better sim card now that picks up a better signal etc.

We get our phones home and have had them for almost 2 weeks.... the signal is terrible inside any building, very rarely have a signal and when we make calls, they cut off mid conversation. So basically we're not going to be able to use them.

Do we have any grounds to return them? I don't feel inclined to pay 189 pounds each for a phone as well as an 18 month contract for something I can't use in my home!!

Orange will not guarantee the signal inside a building and find all excuses to do nothing about this problem. If you can make a call at the end of your driveway they will say that this is acceptable.

After 10 years of being an Orange customer I am looking forward to telling them where to stick their contract in April!!

    Good Luck.

No mobile operator guarantees signal indoors, for a number of reasons.

With regards to the iPhone, it doesn't pick up a very good signal due to it's radio equipment, the sim card has no bearing on the signal whatsoever, the sim only authenticates the handset on the network
  • Sounds like a bit of a porkie they told you about the better sim card....

I have no problems with my iphone but indoor reception is variable with all networks. Did you check oranges network coverage map for your area?

If that is what the guy in the shop told you then he is either an idiot or a liar - or both

If you can take them back and say you were mis-sold then you may have a chance - otherwise you will need to do all your talking outside.
We all evolve - get on with it
  • IMHO if its under 2 weeks, I would take them back, rather than spending the next 18 months with a brick...
