Maybe this has something to do with it:
"Please note that you can only change your product online twice every three months."
I last switched (within EON) on 1st November 2009, to v4.
But then v4, v5 & v6 also say this:
"A contract cancellation fee of £30 may apply."
Anyway, I am now on FixOnline 6, too. I just hope v7 won't make me regret it. Wait and see whether the £30 penalty shows up.0 -
I actually phoned EON and they said there would be no Fee and they only impose it if you leave to go to another supplier.yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift thats why its called the present0
-
Wow !! for me there is a whole 0.1% of extra discount over 5 so I think I will give it a miss.0
-
Does anyone know if there are any premiums to pay on the v6 offer as i never found out about premiums on my last tariff (20% !) untill a week ago...3 weeks before my last contract expires ! :eek:0
-
On my high consumption there is very little(£20pa) between Eon, BG and EDF.
A £30 exit penalty will surely not deter anyone? - if a substantially better deal comes along - pay the £30 and move!!0 -
Agree that £30 is not a deterrent to moving as long as there are real savings - I'm not sure whether a predicted saving of £56 is enough to risk the penalty.I'm still fence sitting.........0

Hi june.elizabeth,
The FixOnline T&C about cancellation fees applies to both changing supplier and changing tariff. As it states this charge may be applied.
At present it seems you've not suffered this charge, bear in mind this may not have been instantly applied when you switched tariff, and may not even be applied at all, however it may be picked up at a later date.
I feel the advice you were given over the phone was inaccurate. Alternatively the agent you spoke may have waived the charge when you called in.
Keep an eye open over the next few weeks, to see if it's applied.

I am an official company representative of E.ON. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -

What a load of meaningless nonesense this is.
Why are the T&C not clear, precise and unambiguous. It is the contract and as such the customer needs to know what their obligations are.
According to you, you don't know whether certain charges will be applied or not and it appears to be a lottery whether some customers will pay them.
Ridiculous. You don't even know if your agents are giving correct advice.
Confusion marketing has now reached a stage where even those marketing the products don't know how the products operate.
Of course E.ON are not alone in this, it is rife throughout the industry.
It is a good job we have a powerful regulator in Ofgem that work tirelesssly on behalf of consumers and in the next 15 years or so will stamp out these ludicrous marketing ploys.:(0 -
I signed on to a one year fixed tariff, and it was very clear that £30 penalty MAY be applied. If they let me off because it's discretionary, I am NOT going to complain.
If I do, please call an ambulance.0 -

If I do, please call an ambulance.
And if it is applied what then? Any complaint will be met with the answer 'its in the T&Cs'.
The point is if there is a penalty clause it should be applied evenly to all accounts and the customer should know what will happen as a result of breaching the T&Cs, not what may or might happen.0
