Suppliers who let you switch to non-Economy 7 tariff on same meter

Hi,

I live in a rented flat with an Economy 7 meter. I don't have night storage heating but Scottish Power won't let me switch to a non-Economy 7 tariff without charing me for a new meter.

I have heard that some suppliers will let you just add the Day and Night readings together to form a Total reading and then use a normal tariff. Can anyone recommend any suppliers which let you do this?

I tried it with Swalec and they said no. Hope this helps to narrow down your options.

Do you mean Scottish Power? I am paying more than I should be with Economy 7 since I hardly use electricity at night.

EDF would make you have a new single rate meter, so you can cross them off your list too!

They give you it for free though so if you don't need an E7 meter why not let someone change it if it doesn't cost you anything?

I managed to change to a non E7 tariff with npower. No meter change mentioned, they just add the two together.
