Not really putting the record straight though, is it? Feedback is for buyers to see other buyer's experiences with the seller, and then making a purchase decision based on that.

Getting non-positives removed is giving prospective buyers an unbalanced view of your selling abilities (which is the main reason negatives with obscene comments are removed from the comments page, but the feedback percentage retains the effects of the negative feedback).

Yet again, ebay constantly changing their own rules for individuals if anyone complains.

I am not - repeat not - ebay's number 1 fan. However the fact that they corrected a situation, that should never have arisen in the beginning is good on their part.

The guy left neutral feedback, even though I stated I did not send abroad. He did not pay. We both cancelled the transactions. How this gives an unbalanced view I'm not sure??
Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies
  • It's always difficult to know what to do for the best in these sort of situations. I sold an item to someone in Scotland for £5 recently. My listing specifies 'Paypal only'. So what happens next? You've guessed! A message from the buyer saying 'is it OK if I send you a cheque?'

To avoid a prolonged dispute I agreed, but really I guess I should have stood my ground?

If they offered a cheque I'd accept, ensure it cleared then sent, it avoids paypal fees and such, as long as it went ok you are fine. Most people would love it if all buyers offered bank transfer or cheques, avoiding the hastle of paypal and the rules that they make up to make them the most money, not what is in the users best interests

Just an update. After another email, ebay have now removed the feedbacks. No explanation, but I guess they made a mistake. Anyway, it is only fair to put the record straight.
Hi as this was a sale that should never have happened, and the buyer never paid it is good to see ebay put things right for you and removed the feedback.

No, it shouldn't. You should have set your preferences to make sure it didn't.

However, as it was, the items appeared on a foreign ebay, and were bought by a foreign person due to your mistake as a seller, they left feedback to warn of this mistake and it was removed.
You can barely rely on ebay uk users to speak english, so you can't blame non english ones for misunderstanding really.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine
:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:
I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p
