But you won't have as much (per person) in bills to pay.

    Does your partner work?

Will you lose more in benefits than he takes home in salary?

  • My partner is moving in with me in 2 wks, I work pt and also get HB and WTC and CTC. We too are better off apart but want to live together. Also he should not be staying over yours (if he is) if you are on benefits....risky area

*Sigh* Do you love him/her? Do you want to make a life together? Do you want to raise your children together? Do you want to travel life's path side by side, for better or worse? Do you want to share the joys and sadness that life has to bring? Do you want to create a strong family bond? Can you see yourself with this person forever?

If the answer to all the above is yes, then move in together and accept that you will temporarily worse off - until one of you gets a better job, the children grow up and the financial burden eases.

This government has a lot to answer for, but money really should not influence your decision to become a family. It certainly didn't influence mine all those years ago..

He can stay over thats not an issue, its the amount of nights he stays over and whether he contributes to the household when he is there.

From memory, I was a questuion I asked in a what if situation and was told 2 to 3 nights a week, toothbrush, chnage of clothes ok, it would be worth just ringing up the DHSS ask what the current policy is and that way you have covered your back and if anyone wants t be a nasty neighbour or friend, then ur in the clear x

There are no set number of nights someone can stay over.

;) Has it been a long time since you got the above info? DHSS went out years ago.

I really don't know ... I honestly don't understand, please someone tell me, why does losing a few pounds in benefit influence your decision to live with the love of your life? I despair and feel so sad (and I am not having a go at you missp35 personally) that there are so many that ask this question.

Surely your decision should be based on whether you want to be together or not and then work out how to manage.

My partner moved in with me and ds last year and we are worse off, main issue being losing help with childcare, apparently we dont pay enough to qualify for help. Tobruk it shouldnt influence the decision but unfortunatley if like us you are about 2/300.00 worse off a month it makes it extremley hard yes we can now half the bills, but the bills have increased as there are more of us.
