I usually don;t go away. I've had two holidays since 1997, and one of those my parents paid for, so you definitely aren;t alone. I just stay at home and chill out. Go camping with the kids for something cheap.

But you said you went to Haven, so you have had a holiday already...

MUm and dad are taking sister and nephew to holiday camp. He went last year and loved it.

He was asked where he wante dto go and he asked to go same place as last year.

They have a week in August in a ground floor massonette (for 6) and paid £350 through some scheme or other. I may even go along for a few days on a freebie.

But I have only had one holiday in alst 5 years but was a 6 week vacation to Canada that I saved for and I am doing it again hopefully for 2010 winter games. I have debts , but am living a reality now.

This year , I will take a week off , sort my fishing gear , get a locence form post office (10 quid for a week I think) and disappear into the country for a few days.

Its not all sun , ill take a book or two and just relax. Luckily have a van at the moment so can bed down in there at night if need be.

Oh , and a take a mobile to turn on for emergencies. "DO NOT DISTURB"

With regards kids :- Talk to the local tourist board.

I take nephew to local castle , and last year we went to a crop circle one day. He didnt stop talking about it for months. Convinced himself it was made by aliens.

Took a few sandwiches and a drink in bag . Picked up local fruit. He loved strawberry picking as well. Found picnic site for an hour. Kicked a ball.

He was well happy the few days we went out and about

i was forced to take two weeks hols from work (tough break i know!) i usually don't take long off without an excuse, rota worked out that the two weeks turned into nearly threee. tomo i am heading off to englandshire to my aunts for a long weekend, but the rest of the time will be spent in my flat, but i've decided to make the best of it, there is heaps of work half finished that i've not had the time to do, so i'm hoping to get my flat finished (or as close to), have most of the stuff i need so shouldnt cost much. shall spend time in the garden, catch up with friends...

my, somewhat lost, point is fun can't only be found away from home, there are amazing things to do without leaving your area, i know there is heaps in aberdeen i haven't seen! been here since 99 and only been in the art gallery twice!
