Latest Windows Xp Updates Problems

If you are running Widows Xp you might want to hold off installing the latest patches/updates, there have been a few reports of problems after installing this Tuesdays updates.

  • It would probably be more helpful if (as mentioned in the article you've linked too) you singled out security update kb977165 as the update which has been causing the issue that is being reported (in a rather sloppy manner).

    It's very important that the other available updates are installed promptly, with caution being exercised with this one.

    Hi.


    I installed all Microsoft updates yesterday on both the comp: that i am using and my daughters Laptop aswell,i have just searched through the update history after reading this thread and both laptop and this desktop have KB977165 installed.

    Both are working fine,i have had no problems so far.Once i installed them yesterday it did ask for a reboot strait after i did this with no adverse effects.

    Touch wood it will remain just fine.
    Forum spellcheckers are the pitts.

    Hmmmmmm......updated both desktop and netbbook (both XP) early this morning no problems have appeared.

    Just checked and KB077165 had been downloaded, but I had not re-started, I removed it and set windows to inform me before installing updates. On re-starting XP informed me that KB 977165 is waiting to be downloaded again.
    What would you do?
    This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !

    Hard one to call...some people are having issues,others are not.Personally though i would not download it,just in case.
